They were 6.5 games ahead in first place then. They swept Philly right after that to go to 9.5 games up. It was still early June. That's right around the time people started realizing that the Mets were actually good, but they weren't a pick to make the playoffs before then. In who's opinion?

  5. When Sandy sat in the booth a couple of weeks ago he spoke highly of Turner..Not to trade him I'd imagine.

  7. Carlos has left the building, for good. I'm more concerned in Ike Davis returning healthy for 2012 than most other Metly issues.
  8. Paulino would be going to a different Indian burial ground.
  9. Zach Wheeler 2009 6th overall pick.. Throws hard, somehat wild.
  10. Olney, and yes it is Wheeler.. http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2011/07/27/carlos-beltran-to-the-san-francisco-giants/
  11. Beltran could be kept at 7 1/2 games back...
  12. Renting out Beltran is going to return so little why not keep him for the fans and tell the other teams to fuck off.

I don't think he'll ever be able to be consistently relied upon as a top of the rotation stater. He's a poor man's Steve Trachsel. Pelfrey reminds of Heilman..1/3 success 1/3 Failure 1/3 Aggravation...
  14. Murphy 2.5 Beltran 0.5 Turner 1.25 Bay 1 Pelfrey 3.5 Byrdak 1 Isringhausen 1.25
  15. Ray Knight scored a 10-8 round vs. Davis in a brawl that matched the ferocity of some of the "better" hockey brawls.
  16. Pissing rain here...91 and heat index 98 in Marge Schottville but DRY.
  17. Thanks, I had forgotten about that one...
  18. The displays in the Cooperstown museum change every season. My last trip was 2010 and John Franco was well represented with a cap and display in the relief pitcher section. Pete Rose may not be a member but his memorabilia was forefront and well represented. It does mean Rose and Franco have to pay $10 to get in. I always liked the idea that an HOF member can get in free with a secret handshake or something. Could you imagine Ralph Kiner if he had to pay lol.?
  19. Great job. I used to enjoy watching the Mets at Crosley, Forbes Field, Jarry Park and Briggs Stadium. That slope at Crosley was one of a kind.
  20. Halper would say he is buried in a Babe Ruth personally certified caskey. Yeah, thats the ticket.
  21. Interested in "crack" hmmm..Step up to the Bar.

  23. Ceetar wrote: Also, it looks like Prince Fielder decided to suck while Reyes was laid up, to keep the MVP race close. looks like Matt Kemp could be the other guy right now. Of course, Prince has the whole 'playoff' race thing going for him, something the Mets seem to want to refuse to actually participate in. The Braves went 4-4 over the last 8..would've been easy to make up a couple of games.. Maybe Fielder & Braun will split votes to help Jose. I wouldn't put it past Pujols to make a run and then hopefully split votes with Berkman.
