  1. Elijah Dukes is a psychopathic drug addict. Milledge had sex. They're nowhere NEAR the same.
  2. Timo Perez was sent outright to AAA Toledo by the Tigers.
  3. Also, Chip Ambres signed with San Diego.
  4. BBWAA decided to postpone implementation of this policy indefinitely.
  5. There was that four-team trade involving Nomar, Orlando Cabrera, Mientkiewicz, etc. in '04.
  6. HAIL!!!
  7. Nice how you took the Goodfellas reference and ran with it, but I found it funny that the White Sox had a player named Ray Liotta more for this reason:
  8. For those who are curious, the following ex-Mets were eligible this year to appear on the ballot for the first time but didn't make the cut: Dennis Cook Bobby J. Jones Dave Mlicki Armando Reynoso John Valentin
  9. Schoeneweis spared due to "insufficient evidence."
  10. Alexei Ramirez is still available, and he can also play the outfield. Maybe we can sign him to play right field and as insurance at 2nd, and flip Church in another deal.
  11. Edgy DC wrote: Remember, it's all about the backpage splashes. And sticking it to the Yankees.
  12. The ESPN Nashville blog says that the Mets have talked to Toronto about A.J. Burnett, perhaps for Carlos Gomez.
  13. Daily News reporting Lo Duca will sign a one-year, $5 million deal with Toronto.
  14. I find it funny that the Royals selected a pitcher named Ray Liotta from the White Sox.
  15. Aaron Boone signed a one-year deal with the Nats.
  16. Tampa Bay took RHP Jose Mejias from us.
  17. I think the writers were right on this in general, but it is somewhat of a conundrum. I think the right move is to allow incentives for WINNING the awards, but not for getting a certain number of votes.
  18. Oh, and the Reds just signed Jon Adkins to a minor league deal.
  19. Chad Hermansen's listed twice.
  20. I hope Delgado bounces back. On a cool personal note, Delgado used to be (and possibly still is) my uncle's next door neighbor in Florida. My aunt's brother designed his house. I'm not sure if he moved after he was traded from the Marlins to the Mets.
  21. The late Larry Whiteside of the Boston Globe gets the Spink Award: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-spinkaward&prov=ap&type=lgns
  22. There should seriously be at least some kind of minimum payroll as well as a salary cap. In this day and age, a $15 million payroll is ridiculously low. The ONLY problem the Marlins have is that they need a stadium with a roof and air conditioning. Once they have that, people WILL show up.
  23. The first post from AAA was definitely bmfc1. I don't know about the other two.
  24. Dick Williams going in with an A's cap: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-halloffame-williams&prov=ap&type=lgns
  25. Detroit's lineup is SCARY now.
