  1. We could probably grab Aubrey Huff from Baltimore, but it would skeeve me out every time I saw him in a Mets uniform. We'd have to take away his porno privileges and keep him away from strip clubs.
  2. I think it's Carlos Gomez.
  3. Yeah - that's not Gotay. Whoever that is is too young and his nose is smaller.
  4. Except he didn't do anything. It was some schmuck kid.
  5. Screw him, his steroids, and his suckiness. Good riddance, ya bum.
  6. If somebody can work with him on how to draw walks, then I'm pretty happy right now!
  7. Scott Podsednik has been DFA'd by the White Sox: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Aq6KMxCceDrppOG.rcTE9GXavrYF?slug=ap-whitesox-podsednik&prov=ap&type=lgns Geoff Blum signs with Houston: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-astros-blum&prov=ap&type=lgns
  8. Yeah, I'd really prefer to keep both Maine and Perez. If we were to add someone like Bedard or Santana, a 1-2-3 of those three in the long term would be really formidable. Then assume that two of Generation K 2.0 (Pelfrey/Humber/Mulvey) pan out, and we've got a sweet rotation, long term.
  9. It's just that he's apparently forgotten how to draw a walk. He had only 12 walks last season, and 13 the year before that. His OBP last year was .296, despite a .278 BA. And he's gonna be 32 next year.
  10. Japanese closer Kobayashi signs with Cleveland: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=ArsuK_ZWIMRaw6kJa0hCqScRvLYF?slug=ap-indians-kobayashi&prov=ap&type=lgns
  11. I'd consider Estrada, but I'd be cautious.
  12. No, all that matters is that Wright ends up with a ring in a Mets uniform.
  13. Tally them up - I believe sharpie won.
  14. Seriously, Carlos Freaking Marmol?!?!?!? That Chicago writer is a freaking imbecile!!! I knew he'd come in fourth.
  15. The Orioles board seems more entranced by the Dodgers, but I did get this reply: ]Bedard would probably cost the Mets Fernando Martinez, Carlos Gomez and Philip Humber (or Mike Pelfrey), or any combination of 3 of those 4 guys. Or if the Mets didn't want to give up that much in the way of Major League ready players, then perhaps the O's could send Bedard and Daniel Cabrera to the Mets for Fernando Martinez, Humber (or Pelfrey), Deolis Guerra (or Dylan Owen) and John Maine. The second proposal seems way more outlandish than the first. Cabrera's a nut case.
  16. I think the guy we'd hope replace Wagner eventually is Eddie Kunz.
  17. I can think of a couple of reasons to avoid Turnbow at all costs - Guillermo Mota and Danny Graves.
  18. I would hope and pray that we hold onto Martinez and Mulvey. The other name that we should also be paying attention to is Deolis Guerra.

    Today?

It would be a huge upset if Wright won. But it could happen. Rollins may lose some votes in favor of Utley and Howard, and Holliday could get penalized for playing at Coors, but I don't see the latter happening as much as the former.
  20. I know I have a different perspective on Glavine because I wasn't paying attention to baseball until 1997, but seriously, give the guy a break. I hold no ill feelings towards him. He pitched well, for the most part, his last four seasons here minus the last week. He did pitch pretty well in the playoffs for us. Blaming him for what happened this season is foolish. It had far more to do with our joke of a bullpen.
  21. Steve, where were you that you saw Castillo?
  22. Victor Diaz DFA by Texas: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-rangersmoves&prov=ap&type=lgns
  23. Jason LaRue signs with the Cards to back up YFM. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-cardinals-larue&prov=ap&type=lgns Also signing with them are John Wasdin and Tampa Bay first-round bust Dewon Brazelton.
  24. The first player ever to reach one of the three elite clubs - 3,000 hits, 500 home runs, 300 wins - in a Mets uniform.
  25. He was the first major leaguer ever to test positive for steroids. He's also had major control issues for the last season and a half or so.
