  1. Unbelievable film. Heath Ledger's Joker blows Jack Nicholson out of the water. He's insane, a complete psychopath, with no goofiness whatsoever. The film takes many twists and turns. It's simply fantastic, and takes superhero filmmaking to a completely new level.
  2. Shrink the ballpark and prices go up. Keep the ballpark the same size and prices probably still would've gone up - just not as much.
  3. ...goes to Daric Barton of the Oakland A's: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=ApobdT6n4pPskviE_EW18T0RvLYF?slug=ap-athletics-barton&prov=ap&type=lgns ]Oakland 1B Barton on DL after hitting head in pool By MIKE FITZPATRICK, AP Baseball Writer 3 hours, 9 minutes ago NEW YORK (AP)Daric Barton smacked his head on the bottom of a pool during the All-Star break, requiring six staples to close the gash and leaving the Oakland first baseman with a neck strain that landed him on the disabled list Saturday. Barton was placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to July 14. The Athletics recalled infielder Wes Bankston from Triple-A Sacramento and started him at first base against the New York Yankees. Barton said he was at a friends apartment back home in California when he dove into a pool Sunday night. He didnt realize how shallow it was, and he hit his head on the bottom. He never lost consciousness, but blood began gushing down his face and Barton went to the emergency room. As soon as I did it I was kind of in shock, he said. Doctors sealed the cut with six staples that are clearly visible atop Bartons head. He is slated to have the staples removed on Wednesday and hopes to be back on the field for workouts within a week. My heads fine. I jarred my neck a little bit, he said. Left side is pretty good, its just the right side. I cant move to the right pretty much. The 22-year-old Barton worked out with the As in Oakland on Thursday and made the trip to New York. Athletics manager Bob Geren said he thought Barton would play in the series opener Friday night, but his neck was still tight so he sat out. You have mixed feelings about it. Obviously the injury could be worse, but youre upset about it a little bit. It seemed to be a careless mistake that hurt the team, Geren said. Barton is batting .224 with three homers and 25 RBIs. Of course, I want to play. Thats my job to play, he said. Ive got to take responsibility for my actions. It was a freak accident and Ive got to deal with it. Bankston joined the As for the second time this season. He was called up July 2 and went 10-for-34 (.294) with a homer and three RBIs in nine starts before he was optioned back to the minors July 10. Bankston was hitting .272 with 15 home runs and 53 RBIs at Sacramento.
  4. Why did the Mets have to be so incredibly STUPID and SHRINK their freaking ballpark? It makes ZERO sense to me.
  5. Yeah, it's really pathetic just how much whining is coming from Gary Carter.
  6. Jerry's gone 18-9. It's unreal.
  7. Ten straight wins. Tied for first place. One month since we fired Willie. Nearly three months since we were last in first place (April 19th)
  8. All right, that's it. I'm off to bed.
  9. I'll give Bud Selig this - I'm actually paying attention to this game.
  10. And we keep on going.
  11. Pelfrey getting good is taking most of the sting out of it for me.
  12. That was a close one. Now David can get a big hit.
  13. Asshole.
  14. Where's Luis Gonzalez when you need him?
  15. Benigno probably didn't ask about Joe's son Lance Niekro, did he? No, he's not smart enough to know about him.
  16. Fernando Cortes, the Golden Boy, the Conqueror? I dunno. We shall see how he performs once he gets up here.
  17. Which begs the question of who the hell is going to buy them.
  18. What are they going to do with these things after the All-Star Game?
  19. Well he is FAR more apt to pinch-hit for his catchers. And he plays the hot hands, rather than the guys making a lot of money.
  20. "F-Mart" would be far too easy for me. Plus it sounds terrible.
  21. Wow, I was almost three months old when this game took place.
  22. Steve, you're supposed to root for your team through good times and bad. That's what being a fan is. The way you're advocating is the way of the Yankee Fan.
  23. I'm so glad he was kept out of the Santana deal.
