  1. Amidst all the suckage, Castillo has quietly upped his batting average from .300 to .321 in the last ten days.
  2. I read that book!
  3. Wow, I'm surprised I'm actually able to follow a Mets game from Italy. Of course there it's the afternoon. Here I'm getting ready for a late dinner. And the Mets are exactly the same as I left them.
  4. Nick Evans reminds me of Jeff Duncan.
  5. If he wants to go, let him freaking go. It's not like this team is actually going anywhere this year anyway.
  6. It's about time they moved Murphy to the bottom half of the order. Freaking ridiculous.
  7. ="Philadelphia Inquirer":h6jh6v1m]He played in Philadelphia until 1960 when he was sent to the Cubs in the Tony Taylor deal.[/quote:h6jh6v1m] Did anyone else read this and immediately think to themselves, "Who the fuck is Tony Taylor?" On a completely unrelated note, the keyboards in Italy are all screwy. MFS62 Aug 21 2009 06:26 PM ="Benjamin Grimm"] Were you aware of Ed's history? ] Yes, it was reported way back then. Later
  8. He sucked. The end. Note: I'm too drunk right now to be terribly nuanced about it.
  9. This Daniel Murphy as cleanup hitter thing is getting very old. Where the hell is the forward slash? These Italian keyboards are VERY strange.
  10. I don't know if anyone has remarked on this yet, but we are also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 1999 Mets this year - the first Mets team I followed that went to the post-season, and in my judgment a far superior team to the 2000 Mets. The greatest defensive infield in Mets history, Piazza at the height of his powers, Al Leiter, Rickey being Rickey, Roger Cedeno, Benny Agbayani, Orel Hershiser, Armando Benitez - this was an Amazin' team to watch, and in my view deserves a lot more credit.
  11. Just got home from the game. My dad and I stayed through the 6th inning, he just couldn't take the heat anymore. Castillo really CRUSHED that ball. I was so pissed off when the Giants broke up the no-hitter. But all in all, a nice day at the ballpark, and the Shake Shack burgers were delicious as usual.
  12. I'm going to the game today. Metfairy, where will you be so I can come find you?
  13. He absolutely deserves to have his number retired. Period.
  14. He took it on the helmet, which flew off, and then fell on his face.

    Holy shit, was this prescient.
  16. I feel like someone at Port St. Lucie should be fired.

I don't see what the big deal is. I need to see a picture of someone wearing the thing to make a judgment.
  18. The last guy I would suspect is Mr. Koo.
  19. How in the hell did the Mets score three runs? See, this is what it's come to - I'm questioning my team when THEY score runs.
  20. No, too depressed with my own team to watch others play baseball.
  21. That looks like a Saturday afternoon drunken softball league jersey.
  22. Ollie is going to give me brain damage.
  23. "Batting eighth, the catcher, Brian Schneider" or "Batting cleanup, the first baseman, Daniel Murphy"
  24. Has anybody else heard about this guy yet? His name is Glenn Donnellan, a violinist in the National Symphony Orchestra, and he created a musical instrument out of a baseball bat. He's hitting the national anthem circuit at MLB games, it seems like. Pretty cool, if you ask me.
