  1. Villar may not be our best hitter anymore
  2. This guy is Justus- not Gary-related, right?
  3. (And an umpire bailout-- the pitch before the one Joe hit was practically mid-thigh)
  4. Our offense, she is Peraza
  5. This run-prevention boat's stayed afloat, but it sure is listing
  6. Why exactly did we bring in the lefty to pitch to the lefty-killing lineup?
  7. Whoever he is, he should've yelled harder at McKinney and Dom.
  8. Walking two guys to start the game may be a bad omen, but at least Lucchesi's working at sub-Trachselian speed, to boot
  9. This steal 1-3 runs-and-hold-them thing might work, if we can supplement the defense even more. (Which, frankly, might be the only way to upgrade without giving up real talent.)
  10. Didn't Lindor's streak a few weeks back stretch into the mid-20s?
  11. =kcmets post_id=65704 time=1622135568 user_id=53] I forgot this a 7 inning game... such utter bullshit and it better not stick past 2021.
  12. I'm annoyed about not getting some Strange, a little. But getting, say, https://www.fangraphs.com/players/delino-deshields/11379/stats?position=OFLil' Delino-- currently languishing at AAA for the Rangers, as they enjoy/examine Adolis Garcia... and likely a defensive upgrade on both a healthy Almora AND a healed Pillar-- might help ease that burning annoyance... and be semi-realistic, to boot. Failing that, one of the other bargain brands denoted https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mets-trade-targets-five-realistic-players-the-banged-up-nl-east-contenders-could-acquire/here could work: -- Medium-sucky at all three positions https://www.fangraphs.com/players/brian-goodwin/12858/stats?position=OFBrian Goodwin, CWS -- "Feast or famine" post-hype prospect with real pop https://www.fangraphs.com/players/sam-hilliard/17954/stats?position=OFSam Hilliard, COL -- Poor-man's Nimmo https://www.fangraphs.com/players/lamonte-wade-jr/18126/stats?position=OFLamonte Wade, SF (The https://www.fangraphs.com/players/mike-brosseau/19683/stats?position=2B/3BMike Brosseau suggestion is also intriguing, even if he hasn't played CF; the versatility alone would be very, very helpful)
  13. Fargas likely to go to the IL. Same with Yamamoto (whose spot Jake will take when activated later today). 17 total ILed. What's the record?
  14. Perhaps a cheap option/just DFA'ed in San Francisco: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/braden-bishop/17806/stats?position=OFKhalil Lee, Centerfield Edition (erstwhile prospect with offensive offense/superlative defense Braden Bishop) Similarly/of similar provenance: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/dee-gordon/8203/stats?position=2Ba semi-familiar face/part-time CFer (DFA'ed over the weekend... and at least he's got bunting experience)
  15. Double wow. Can we slot in Rojas' PR acumen in at first base, batting third? Because it's... pretty offensive. [bLOCKQUOTE]Rojas said McCann is "familiar" with first base even though he's never played there professionally.[/bLOCKQUOTE] Like, he's a secret admirer, from afar?
  16. Wow. That lineup. Makes you wonder what John Mayberry and Soup are up to, and whether their gloves are still broken in. I feel like the 3 hole is being turned into less of a batting-order slot, and something more like a performance-art platform.

That would have pretty much put the game out of reach if it hadn't been right at Villar. Underrated-- and smart-- roll of the dice, this; baiting Snitker into pulling Morton was risky, but worth it, given that our offense is riding on four spare tires. Worked out, too, since we tallied three against the middle relief. Credit where credit is due. Yeah, it almost blew up, but it was a worthwhile risk. It would have been a more obvious move if they had a quality reliever who wasn't exhausted to pitch to Sandoval — who the Mets might be trading for before the season is done. I've seen Morton at least a dozen times, but I felt like I never saw him saw him. That curve was staggering, and even fouling one off was a moral victory. The rest of his repertoire was junk, but it didn't matter, because you had to sit on the curve. Maybe the Mets will be trading for him before the season is done. I wanted to give Khalil Lee a hug at the end of the night. I would love either or both, but I don't see Atlanta giving US a toy to play with. (I suspect Villar was to be something like our Sandoval-equivalent-- a backup infielder, yes, but also a hopeful lightning-in-a-bottle veteran acquisition. Jose Martinez, too.) And, yeah, Morton's upgraded significantly since we used to see him with the Blackbeards... but then, he has spent the last four seasons in modern-pitcher finishing school (HOU, TB).
  18. Went with Villar, but it's a coin flip between him and Nido these days. Jesus, that's grim.

  20. If you haven't seen the Tommy Hunter postgame interview yet, you should take a look. T'is a wholesome delight.
  21. A warm body, who's played professional outfield? I'd buy that for a dollar.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: I haven't seen a pall thrown over a game like this since the Beltran/Cameron collision. There was a game at the end of the 2006 regular season in which Nick Johnson of the Nationals broke his femur in a collision while trying to catch a ball in short right field. They turned off the scoreboard animations/between inning music for the rest of the game. Meanwhile. Tim Healey wrote: Truist Park is rocking a dance cam during this delay

  24. Three good innings of Good Reid-Foley, as it turns out, which means a lot more than squat.
  25. =Fman99 post_id=64493 time=1621299119 user_id=86] How does every fucking opponent with an ERA of 6+ put this lineup into Operation Shutdown? I'm about to throw a fit.
