The contract A-Rod signed at Texas was ridiculous; once A-Rod got those terms, even the Mets wouldn't have been stupid enough to try to top it. And it's clear the A-Rod was not going to settle for less; he wanted to be known for signing the biggest contract in the history of sports. Philips reasons for not signing him might have been a little suspect, but before the contract ended the Rangers thought they overpaid him and dumped him on the MFY. The money tied up in A-Rod's contract would have been crippling to the team.

It's not your imagination the Mets played a lot of extra inning games this year. I just ran the numbers. The team has 995.2 innings pitched, putting them seventh of MLB. But the Mets have only played 108 games. They thus play 9.214 innings/per game, the most by any team. Second is Arizona, with 9.15.

Tedious, slow, boring, routinely plotted, pointlessly sadistic, predictable, and a major disappointment after the first two. Bane was the second least interesting villain in the history of film (only Darth Maul had less personality). 'm actually watching it right now and don't care at all that I'm missing things. God, another fistfight between Bane and Batman. The first was dull; this is even duller. Glad I got this at Redbox for a buck and quarter. That's all it's worth. God! They just did the big "twist." How stupid can they get with this?
