  1. No faith in the medical staff, part #28054: Syndergaard refuses an MRI and pronounces himself ready to start on Sunday. For everyone's sake, I hope he's right.
  2. Frayed Knot wrote: Ronnie has a tendency to overdo the 'I wasn't that good' angle about his own career. It's an easy trap for announcers to fall into and maybe my one complaint about his style is that he should do that less often. This is a problem that has never plagued Keith Hernandez. 7-3 Good Guys.
  3. 101 pitches after 6. Terry better let him go out for the 7th.
  4. Hiding under the couch cushions tonight.
  5. Chad Ochoseis wrote: This is fair. I mean, what better symbol of impotence is there than the Mets?
  6. Quick trade for Bartolo perhaps?
  7. 1968, god help me. As a little kid I had no idea of the life of pain ahead of me. Seasons like this are the worst because there are expectations going in. The years where you knew they weren't competitive from Day 1 can be watched in a different fashion; you can focus on individual achievements (Reyes winning the batting title in '11, for instance, Dickey's Cy Young season in '12 or Harvey blossoming in '13). But when the team is supposed to do well as a unit and fails miserably, that blocks out the joy of everything else. They could turn it around, but right now the trajectory looks awful.
  8. Problem is that the people to shake things up with are either not ready (Rosario/Smith) or injured (the phone book). Fire Kevin Long already, please. The only guy he helped left two seasons ago. And good lord, fire the training staff, Barwis, and hire the guy who trains Bartolo Colon in the Dominican in the offseason. Put Conforto in the lineup every single game even if Duda and Cespedes come back. I'm tired of Granderson's noodle arm and noodle bat. Sit Reyes down. I know TJ Rivera's not hitting either, but I'd like to give him a 10-game trial at third base every day, and if he can't hack it, well, Jose's well rested. Cuz this ain't working (despite today's homer). Have Crash Davis sneak onto the field at Nationals Park and run the sprinklers full blast all night. We need another rainout.
  9. Hmm, 95 wins might be a little tough now.

  11. 2016- team struggles to score runs. 2016 offseason- change no offensive players. 2017- team struggles to score runs. Pretty simple actually.
  12. So how long before those home uniforms are white with navy pinstripes and no names on the back?
  13. Now if Cespedes starts flinging firecrackers at people and Noah squirts bleach at reporters, all bets are off.
  14. Heavy rain predicted and even if it's light rain, they won't risk Cespedes on a wet field.
  15. Ashie62 wrote: Amed Rosario has 72 PA at Vegas and is hitting .402. He plays shortstop. A tempting morsel for the Panic City crowd. At the very least they wouldn't bring him up before the super-two deadline passes, whenever that is.
  16. Ashie62 wrote: We are fortunate Flore's staph infection did not spread throughout the locker room. I think Reyes' Emerald Ash Borer disease has spread to most of the team, however.
  17. For the record, I did not watch. ESPN.
  18. Annoys me that our humiliation will be carried live nationally on ESPN tonight. I can't watch.
  19. Ugh. No expectations for this weekend at all. They're hurt and those who aren't hurt are playing poorly.
  20. Conforto .320, Granderson .145. Just sayin'.
  21. That SNY streaming stuff doesn't work in St Louis, boo. But Bruce looked good on Gamecast (which is only slightly worse than Comcast). Needed that one, boys.
  22. Starters are doing fine, up to a point. And that point is so early in the game that the bullpen is getting stretched until it breaks. If Gsellman pitches 5 innings and gives up one run but throws 100 pitches, he will have failed.
