    How uncommon is this? COntracts are structured in all sorts of ways.

    On their ipad app, anyway, the Mets story is about 1/3 the size of the MFY story, and it's mostly about what a terrible team the Mets are and they can't expect to have too many days like this. Instead of writing about what Cowgill and Byrd did in the game, they wrote about what they did last year. And, well, I could go on and on, but "Fuck the New York Times" covers it.

    How are players like Niewenhuis and and den Dekker -- and lots of others -- allowed to get as far as they have in baseball without learning that it's not a good idea to strike out all the time?

    Across Florida is really not that far. And in any event, it doesn't matter all that much who they play in spring training.
