  1. I'd be up for it.
  2. I've been playing OOTP because it's the only game available for tablet, but not happy with it. I'm playing the 1948 season, and I had the trade function turned on, and suddenly the Cubs traded Hank Sauer to the Gisnts. So I turned it off, but now I can't make the trades that really got made during the course of the season. But what really sealed it for me was yesterday when I was playing the Dodgers against the Porates, and PeeWee Reese led off the game with a home run, followed by PeeWee Reese who hit a home run. So now with nobody out in the top of the first, the Dodgers lead 2-0, and Reese is 2 for 2. Hardly seems worth continuing the season.
  3. Sometimes the Mets give me irritable bowel syndrome.
  4. Jackie Robinson is the one in the rotunda.
  5. When is first spring training broadcast? Telecast?
  6. I don't want Jeter to die, I just want his reputation to be irrevocably tarnished. I always admired Mo. I'd like his HOF ceremony not to be overshadowed by that twerp.
  7. Good news.
  8. There's no point arguing with Yankee fans. Just shoot them.
  9. What's the worst thing we can wish on Jeter? A .143 season batting average? A groin pull on the first day of the season that turns gangrenous? Paternity suits in every city he visits?
  10. I'd love to see them both have breakthrough seasons.
  11. I'd like to nominate myself for Poster Posting With Smallest Dog Next To Him.
  12. Parnell took complete control of the closer role last season, becoming one of the most reliable high-leverage relievers (HLR) in baseball. Always nice to know there's already an acronym for something I've never heard of.
  13. Tempted, but I know I wouldn't be able to sustain the commitment.
  14. "Oh, Doctor!" Was Coleman's homage to Red Barber.
  15. Don't the Mets have enough marons in their organization?
  16. When were the Brooklyn Tip-Tops? Nobody going to the Toledo Glass Sox or the Macon Whoopees?
  17. I have New England roots, and the Red Sox were my American League team as a kid. Now, I find them too much like the Yankees. Soulless.
  18. Hate the Dodgers (Fuck you forever, Walter O'Malley). Don't hate the Cardinals. You can't hate everyone who's not a Met. Well, you can, but once the Mets are not in the picture, you can't. I was rooting for the Pirates, but will now go for the Cardinals. And probably root for them in the Series. I like the Tigers, but find it hard to root for a team in a league that doesn't play real baseball. And, fogey that I am, I tend to like the old, pre-Milwaukee Brave teams.
  19. Gee 4 D'Arnaud 3 Hawkins 1 Germen 1 Black 1
  20. I don't know about statues...sports statues tend to be awful. I think I'd prefer Cooperstown-style plaques.
  21. They've stayed in New York.
  22. Late in his career, I brought a banner to Shea saying "Kranepool will never be over the hill."
  23. No need to assume yes.
  24. Tim and Ralph were a great team. I haven't really watched Tim in his post-Mets incarnation so I haven't developed the negativbe feelings about him that some have. But I wonder if even Murph could add "...and they will..." to this bunch.
  25. Channel 9 had the Brooklyn Dodgers too.
