It's true that in-game managing is a less authoritative act when playing 10-man baseball. And I imagine Buckles turned over a lineup card to his lieutenants before he punched out, but it's still interesting to me who gets to wear the hat.

It always looked to me like a mid-century modern logo for a European national airline. Looking it up, I'm not that far off, as it was introduced in 1955. What it represents — and I wouldn't have guessed this — is a highly stylized M. I think it looks more like a stylized bird's-eye view of someone's cleavage in a cone bra. In the design biz, it's referred to as "the bat-wing logo," which probably pisses Batman off to no end.
