1. And that's it. It's the whole package — scouting, development, training, coaching, metricking, and perhaps five or so general managers. Perhaps, indeed, as many as eight of them, counting the 2018 triumverate. It'd take a long time to unscrable those eggs.
2. I agree with the 5–7 win bar, but I don't think Megill, despite his fine run, had passed Bassitt, Carrasco, and Walker on his way to the top of the rotation. The team is missing their 1, 2, and 6 starters. 1, 2, 6, and 7 if you're counting Joey Lucchesi. Battle, battle, and keep things competitive, and however things shake out, make sure they spend as much as possible on the other side.
3. FOUR-FOR-FOUR!!! TWO MORE RUNS!!!
4. First and third and two outs, and Nido looking to build on his three-for-three.
5. Just once, I'd like to hear a play-by-play person discuss warming up pitchers and not using them, without wink-wink saying, "There's a term for it, but I won't use it on the air."
6. I can so not like it. Here, let me try ... . Yup. There it is.
7. Just trying to shake out the bushes and see who was around. Otto trying to pitch his way out of the hole he's dug, and gets two strikeouts. Nats have LOBbed a lot of dudes.
8. You guys are missing a firing up of the Francisco Lindor RBI machine.
9. We're gonna need our closer today, it looks like. Don't like to pull starters after five, but that's where we are. The good news is that Slugo is getting a second inning. More runs, please.
10. Strange-Gordon helps some more, turning an RBI single into a second run with a bobble. METS!
11. Nats threatening with first and third and one of the hardest guys to double up (Dee Strange-Gordon) at the plate.
12. This thread could stand to be modder.
13. Despite a pair of two-out baserunners, the Mets put up what is suddenly a very rare first-inning goose egg.
14. MLB.tv free game of the day, but I who have paid am still black'd out.
15. Ain't nobody a rat prick. Ain't nobody a bisexual turd.
16. They might also be willing to be generous for some relief on Votto's salary. As the Devin Mesoraco/Matt Harvey deal represents, they've looked to the Mets for salary dumping before.
17. I'm crediting Alonso, McNeil, Lindor, Walker, et al.
18. =roger_that post_id=94309 time=1654096549 user_id=128] Has Guillorme nailed down the everyday 2B job? Is McNeil now his backup and their regular LFer?
19. Is Cooter's now a Scores? I feel ike everything is going Scoresward.
20. That's terrific. Tommy Pham (and really, shouldn't he be exclusively referred to as "Tommy PHWAM!" at this point?) has served his three-game suspension, and has jokingly blamed the smacking incident on Commissioner Mike Trout's lax supervision. Footage has surfaced of the slap, and while it's merely a background detail in the shot, I'd conclude that Phwam!'s hands are a lot quicker than Will Smith's.
21. There's just some pitchers who know the moment the ball leaves their fingers, they're fielders. And there are some who are just looking at the game as a series of pitches, thinking of the next one, and always seem to have that moment of "Oh, shit, I'm a fielder." For some relievers with high strikeout rates, the mindset is always that they did something wrong if the ball is put in play, and they start their mental adjustments trying to nail down what that was, before realizing that, holy shit, that's a live ball! They're in that awkward terra incognita situation for a moment, as if they're unsure if the air is breathable.
22. I thought I had Darling in there. He actually appeared twice.
