  1. I think he means competition between multiple agencies vying for the sweet MLB contract. So yeah, MLB enjoys the benefit of people competing for them, but get a protection from being accountable for their own anti-competitive practices. Big boo.
  2. And 12-7 is your final. Pitching rools!
  3. Alex Valverde got raked for three runs in a third of an inning in the eighth, and the Mets fell behind 12-4, now 12-5 after a William Lugo homer for St. New York Lucie. Now 12-7 after a two-run homer by Mauricio!! Pulling it lefthanded!
  4. It is. It's also like runny paint, runny faucets, and runny cake batter. It's a lot like runny batter, actually. He was literally a runny batter.
  5. Early leads of 2-0 and 4-2 have dissolved as the Cardinalia exploded ahead 7-4 after José Chacin coughed up five runs while recording only one out, putting him and his 135.00 ERA out ahead in the hot sweepstakes to be the first guy sent to minor league camp. Mets trail 9-4 as we move ahead at a quickened pace (already in the eighth). Your star of the afternoon is Tim Locastro, 2-3 with a stolen base and a runny scored. David Peterson also gets some big points by giving up no hits and a walk while striking out three in his two-inning start, facing actual, real-life Cardinals.
  6. No it doesn't. It doesn't ask deGrom to confirm the report or even note that there has been such a report.
  7. That Álvarez card has seen some hard times.
  8. Pete Alonso's 1.000 batting average on the line.
  9. Tommy. I'm looking forward to the Frankie Alvarez rookie card.
  10. Transactions, 2/24/2022 [th]Direction[/th][td90]COMING[/td90][th]Transaction [/th][td90]Signed as International Free Agent out of Venezuela, Projected for DSL Mets[/td90][th]Position Group [/th][th]=#BF80FF] Infielder[/th][th][/th][td90][fimg=90]https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2023/02/cumare-wuilder-2023.png[/fimg][/td90] [th]Name [/th][td90]Wuilder Cumare [fimg=50]https://thecranepool.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/venezuelan-flag-small.jpg[/fimg][/td90][th]DoB[/th][td90]7/7/06[/td90] [th]B/T[/th][td90]R/R[/td90][th]High Level[/th][td90]Academy (2023)[/td90] The Mets and this youngster had been rumored to be committed to each other months ago, but it took until Friday to be official. But who knew he looked like Willis Drummond? (Fun Fact Learned After Already Having Typed the Above: On the day this youngster was born, Willie Randolph's Mets lost 7-3 to the team then known as the Florida Marlins. The winning pitcher for the Marlins? Dontrelle Willis!)
  11. I agree, but I call Baty Batymauricientos. Why we would want to lust after other people's infielders, in the second halves of their careers, is a mystery.
  12. Mets beating up on the Nats' bullpen, in what is hopefully a preview of what is to come, going up 6-2.
  13. Came within a foot of clearing the berm, batting lefthanded. Abraham Almonte isn't quite as slender as he once might have been.
  14. An RBI dubble by Mark Vientos (who had struck out twice) puts the Mets up 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh. Even more impressive was Alex Ramirez who tore ass, scoring from first after pinch-running for Tommy Pham.
  15. It may work out for them yet. The offensive standard at shortstop in baseball is so high now that I wouldn't be surprised if the average shortstop is out-hitting the average secondbaseman, thirdbaseman, and/or centerfielder. Catcher too, although nobody is getting pushed there.
  16. Baker steals one off of Kevin Parada, on to catch for the Mets.
  17. 2002 World Series hero Darren Baker on the board with a hit for the Nats.
  18. Big catch by Tim Locastro and we remain tied at 2-2 halfway through the sixth. No sign of Dom Smith yet, but the Nats have a split squadron.
  19. Big double by Daniel Englebert Vogelbach and the Mets take a 2-1 lead over the Nats this afternoon.
  20. It's highly distinctive how the Pads' method seems to be to load up on shortstops and push them to other positions. Tatis is due back in a few days, and I guess I'd know more if I read more, but I suppose Xander Bogarts is their shortstop now and Fernando goes to the outfield. On the other hand, Bogaerts is headed to the WBC, so maybe Fernando is a shortstop again in the meantime. Or Machado. Or Ha-Seong Kim. I dunno.
  21. I keep reading the title of this thread and thinking of it as the name of Hank Williams, Jr.'s new Monday Night Football theme song.
  22. A 3-3 with a homer from Alonso is an encouraging start.
  23. Billy Wagner's son Will is also having a game for himself as the second Houston thirdbaseman.
  24. Jaylen Palmer just lost a deep fly to wall, and the announcers are thinking he's Alex Ramirez. Palmer is not only a floater from minor league camp, but he's also an infielder playing center.
  25. Don Kessinger's grandson playing second for Houston.
