  1. Baty, of all folks, keeps his head.
  2. That's three double plays blown by three different infielders who were all seemingly pressing.
  3. McNeil was in no-man's land.
  4. Suddenly, Kodai is pitching afraid.
  5. That's a strained calf. And it'll be a pull the next time he has to explode from a standstill. There's a reason he barely waived at that hit. He needs to finish this game on the bench.
  6. Curtiss was signed in 2021 and kept on the DL all year while he recovered from surgery. He's got a lot of big league experience and throws a hard slider and is generally known for his control. That last trait hasn't necessarily been as evident so far post surgery, and he's mostly had a rough time in Syracuse this season. I'd like to tell you how he's giving hints of finding himself his last few games, but if he is, it's not so much showing up in the box scores. Lefthander Josh Walker appeared in the Tampa series, throwing one inning, walking a pair, but getting out of it. It's his only MLB appearance to date, despite being 28, but he's having a real good season for Syracuse, with a 1.45 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings, along with holding lefties to an .077 batting average.
  7. No doubt. His work in the eighth inning last night was just such a dead-man-pitching performance that it was a human tragedy to watch. He surely knew he was pitching for his baseball life but he seemingly only had a total of maybe four competitive pitches in his arm.
  8. Damn, Tommy.
  9. Hey, the question was the question. There were no caveats. We're all shedding something. Always. But I'll happily wager that the Mets will not lose 101 games this season.
  10. We actually mean to commemorate the legalization of same-sex marriage in Canada, right?
  11. Marlins did something like the equivalent, going from 92 wins (and a championship) to 108 losses.
  12. Well, so much for Hunter being the winning pitcher.
  13. Bucs turning into the Mets in the ninth.
  14. Speaking of mopping up, how about Pittsburgh pulling Zastryzny here?
  15. So, you're saying that Pete Alonso:Tommy Hunter::Mike Piazza:Lenny Harris? Well, I'm not trying to kill off what's left of Hunter's career, but if it's the end of the line for Hunter, maybe that goes down easier if Alonso isn't with the team.
  16. Ke'Bryan Hayes tonight = Austin Riley last night.
  17. Yeah, I'm sorry, Hunter. It's gonna be a tough night.
  18. There'll be no Vogey on the mound tonight. But I still smell a possible end of the line for Hunty.
  19. I'm a little bit surprised to see Hunter still on the team. Appreciate the rounds of "Let's Go, Mets!" bubbling up.
  20. Kinda think they should let Hill try to finish.
  21. I've decided that the Mets pitchers are tipping their pitches. All of them.
  22. Consecutive Pirates using "Fat-Bottomed Girls" and "Back in Black" as walkup music.
