  1. Well, Mauricio has the arm for third.
  2. Playing a "Born to be Wild" sound bite when a pitcher is having trouble finding the plate is kind of bush league.
  3. I'd like to retroactively endorse the idea that Mauricio try to work a walk.
  4. I'd like to retroactively come out against Hartwig's entrance into this game.
  5. No no-no in Baltimore as recent callup Heston Kjerstad homers. Even when it isn't Baltimore's night.
  6. Homers in a Season by a Met 1) Pete Alonso (2019): 53 Pete Alonso Projected to End of Season: 49.59 2) Pete Alonso (2023): 45 T3) Todd Hundley (1996): 41 T3) Carlos Beltran (2006): 41 T5) Mike Piazza (1999): 40 T5) Pete Alonso (2022): 40 T7) Darryl Strawberry (1987): 39 T7) Darryl Strawberry (1988): 39 T9) Howard Johnson (1991): 38 T9) Mike Piazza (2000): 38 T9) Carlos Delgado (2006): 38 T9) Carlos Delgado (2008): 38

  8. Brandon milking 10 pitches from Greene and singling the other way is lead-off hitting the way it oughta be.
  9. OK, let's answer right back.
  10. Well, that's a stinky way to see the Redz break through.
  11. Lindor is also wearing a no-name 21 jersey.
  12. But we're not touching Greenie so far. And as he's topping out at 98 so far. Yanks not helping us against the Buccos, either.
  13. Peterson is looking on top of his game from my perspective.
  14. Weird. Greene's slider doesn't do anything for me, but it works against righties because they're all sitting on the heater.
  15. Yeah, I was just thinking that those Kroger patches aren't helping the Kroger brand very much, and certainly not the Reds brand.
  16. Transactions, 9/14/2023 [th]Direction[/th][td90]COMING[/td90][th]Transaction [/th][td90]Claimed of Waivers from CHC and Sent to Syracuse[/td90][th]Position Group [/th][th]=#FF8000]Relief Pitcher[/th][th][/th][td90][fimg=90]https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-photos/image/upload/d_people:generic:headshot:67:current.png/w_213,q_auto:best/v1/people/641743/headshot/67/current[/fimg][/td90][th]Name [/th][td90]Anthony Kay [fimg=50]https://thecranepool.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/US-flag.png[/fimg][/td90][th]DoB[/th][td90]1/2/93[/td90][th]B/T[/th][td90]L/L[/td90][th]High Level[/th][td90]MLB (2023)[/td90] Anthony Kay's selection in the 2015 draft represented the second straight year the Mets went for a Long Islander with their top pick, having taken Justin Dunn the previous year. Both also went to school in New England, Kay at UConn, and Dunn at BC. I don't know what that means, but obviously their scouts from a certain territory knew how to make a case for their guys. He left the organization after reaching AAA in 2019, heading to the Toronto system with Simeon Woods Richardson for Marcus Stroman — yet another Long Islander.
  17. Got to be DJ's Mets debut in three-hole.
  18. Yeah, Willie was my Tiger MVP, though I was briefly nervous I'd pick the wrong Willie Hernandez, because the MVP was also known as Guillermo for part of his career. it was another relatively easy grid because there was only one team in the column headings, and it was a familiar one. All three of my MVPs were lesser lights than my Silver Sluggers, and I guess that's a safer way to play. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2023/09/screen-shot-2023-09-15-at-2.31.58-pm.png>
  19. He also was hitless over his last five innings in high A. So he did do something like the equivalent of a full Vander Meer.
  20. https://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1968/Topps---Base/463/High----Jimmie-Schaffer.jpg?id=9f5ee6e8-5ae0-4286-9d5c-fd4d41e1a14d&size=original> Took fifteen grand to take a dive against Jersey Joe Walcott, and regretted it the rest of his life.
  21. Clearly you're a huge Mannequin fan, I see.
  22. I strangely misremember Jon Nunnally as a tall, thinnish white guy. Good job putting Norman, Zachry, and Youngblood in a row, though Steve Henderson and Doug Flynn are elsewhere.
  23. What's black, green, and red? The Mets donning their Friday-night blacks as David Peterson locks horns with flamethrowing Hunter Greene of the Cincinnati Reds. Roberto Clemente Day will be celebrated at Citi Field, but once the pre-game festivities are done, the atmosphere will be anything but clemente. Met bats will seek to turn on the some of the hottest heat baseball has to offer, and Francisco Álvarez will try to contend with a team of young, speedy Redlegs. Ronny Mauricio has been out with an un-named illness, but it's totally not COVID so stop saying it is. Maybe Guillorme returns in his stead. In addition to the game, the first 33,000 through the gate will get access to a seat and a chance to have their picture taken at the ballpark by their friend with a camera phone. 24. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: We win a series. Is that good? I get confused what the forum consensus is and/or what the cool kids think. I tend to think we could have swept if we didn't pick relievers from the shallow end of the bullpen to hold a one-run lead in Game One. But Buck never asks me what I think.
  25. Alonso giving a gift to the position player-pitcher by swinging at the very worst possible pitch.
