  1. Let's see a little more Tyromania here.
  2. Never saw a reverse-pivot pickoff work before. It always looks kind of illegal.
  3. I went to the Mets site and saw that Lindor was up with one guy on. I clicked to open the MLB.tv feed and saw (1) Alonso up, (2) Lindor in the dugout focusing on whatever was next and (3) the bases empty. I was certain Francisco hit into a double-play. And then the score told me ... otherwise.

Being healthy makes him doubly vulnerable too being the team's next DFA, as he is (1) eligible, and (2) perhaps not as attractive as a waiver claim, being recently hurt an all. On the other hand, he is perhaps currently the team's #6 starter, with Senga, Peterson, and Megill all sidelined. Such is the ugly nature of the accidental itinerancy baked into the system by MLB.
  5. It appears so far that, despite Los Gigantes switching from a lefthanded starter to a righty, the Met are sticking with the righthanded Taylor, Bader, and Nido in their lineup.
  6. Oh, man. This is going to be a serious opportunity for anyone in a Mets uniform.
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: I would have gotten Piscopo (actually did think about guessing him) long before I guessed Bench. Didn't see that one at all. That's OK. We spoke with the judges and they all agreed that "Bo Deitl" was a much stronger guess than "unusually puffy Ron Darling." I'm not sure Piscopo is an actual member of the party or is just coming by to shmooze. He does seem to be the only one standing. Perhaps they were all invited to a Rawlings event and JP was the master of ceremonies or something.
  8. Johnny Bench next to Keith? Yes! YESS!!! The total is: Keith Hernandez: 11 Gold Gloves Johnny Bench: 10 Gold Gloves Steve Garvey: 4 Gold Gloves Jim Kaat: 16 Gold Gloves Joe Piscopo: 0 Gold Gloves ... so far The late Brooks Robinson: 16 Gold Gloves Ozzie Smith: 13 Gold Gloves TOTAL: 70 Gloves of Gold I'd love to see someone try to bunt against a defense of Kaat at pitcher, Bench at catcher, Keith at first, and Brooks at third.
  9. Piscopo is correct! No Gold Gloves but he is a member of The New Jersey Hall of Fame, so there's that.
  10. The two as-yet-unnamed figures have both famously appeared on variety shows.
  11. Not Bo Dietl. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSkXZsmmQfOY1peCRaUINZlu3tmimFIuiT27w_IFn4a0R4XmtaOowWKkNrjW7G7yAGQ4Q8tBsWDYuV4B2-Fgw1P_O-ZrzZugx35et-gmSU>
  12. Seventy Gold Gloves, to be precise. SEVENTY! Good job. Two figures remain.
  13. They had also been doing batter against lefties before this trip. Tyrone Taylor needs to be deployed.
  14. That's one.

  16. I dunno, but it's not like gambling interests haven't made many a fortune by using freebies to get newbies into the house.
  17. And no tying run to the plate.
  18. Bunt, Joey!
  19. Here's where we get to cash in on making Doval throw 28 pitches yesterday.
  20. One out makes Narváez your new tying run.
  21. Joey Wendle, looking ahead, is scheduled to be your tying run. And against Rogers, he'd certainly be likely to bat.
  22. Lindor has done a LOT of fishin' today.
  23. We have a walk in captivity!
  24. If rolled-over grounders were gold, I'd be a very rich man.
  25. Well, nice to see Wendle earning money with his glove.
