1. Jett Williams, who hasn't played since April 21, has been placed on Seven-Day Injured List with right wrist soreness. JW has only appeared in 10 games this season, and hasn't really hit yet, though he has continued to get his walks.
2. And while you're voting, we need a thread starter for the second game of the series.
3. I'm sixth on the Mets in innings pitched out of the pen, but I'm only two outs short of being third. I'm 37 years old with a perfectly good chance of turning 38 in 265 days, and I'm the top lefthander and really the only trusted one with Brooks Raley getting his injuries seen to. Batters are only hitting .107 / .278 / .107 // .385 against me, but somehow that adds up to a 3.85 ERA. Remember when Jerry Manuel used to whine about not having a second lefty in the pen? Well, we do. I'm that guy, except I'm the first guy now. I have the stuff to get everybody out too. But stuff is stuff. The games still have to be played, and folks tell me that you've seen a lot of these games and know how it all rollls out. How's it gonna roll out for me? No word yet on any resolution to the Zack Short DfA, but he's suddenly got a ton of fans on X/Twitter, by virtue of his last name not being Wendle.
5. Man, in the end, we chased. I don't know that there's ever been an opposing closer who gives me hope like Hector Neris.
6. DJ Stewart sets up the game-winning homer, but he also sets up the GIDP.
7. If Pete was giving McNeil location signals, I hope he signaled "Off the plate."

D fence So, he kind of out-managed himself. Anyways, I'm not sure 2022 Diaz is somebody we can expect to show up any time soon. On the other hand, it's Hector Neris coming in. And if you don't chase against him, he can load the bases in a hurry.
9. I was eating dinner with one eye on the screen and the sound off. Was Wendleton in for defense or did something go wrong with Vientos?
10. Wendle is lapsing in judgment.
11. So, it's OK to say it after seven, right?
12. I don't know about you, but I think Luis Severino deserves a little more support here.
13. Frayed Knot wrote: I've been away for a couple of days ... what's up with Narvaez? Anybody hear answers from the booth or any other outlets so far?
14. Not sure. Smooth sailing through three for Severino. Pete Crow-Armstrong better back off!
15. No way a hot Vientos gets farmed out. At worst, he'd be sent down for a few days while they shop somebody. But it would be a good problem to have.
16. This guy https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/n/nakammi01.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/players/n/nakammi01.shtml But now I see he's on the list and I just missed him.
17. No, I'm the one who offered Ken earlier. I assumed his name is a shortened version of Kenzo or the like.
18. I should have gotten Imanaga, and might have gotten Kobayashi, but most of those, not in a million years. I thought there was a guy with a western first name and a Japanese surname — Michael Hashimoto, or something.
19. Frayed Knot wrote: P.S. how many of Pete's HRs would have been swallowed up by early dimensions CitiField (or at least a reasonably accurate estimate) is probably a findable number. And I hope it is. At the same time, one can find how many homers David Wright presumably would have had with the current dimensions.
20. We're a month into the season, to say nothing of spring training, and all that time hasn't afforded the administration here to put up a thread about me. Well, I'll just have to deal with that, for I am one of a mostly powerless group of player shuttling in and out of the back end of the bullpen, and I have only two appearances anyhow. And, hey, I'm happy to be here. After being a top prospect and number-six overall pick, the ceiling fell in on my career, and I had to journey through illness, obscurity and the Joliet Slammers to find my way to the big leagues. Those small city teams that name themselves after a local employer can seem fun from the outside looking in, but it just serves to remind itinerant ballplayers, often drifting like myself to a team back where near they grew up, how close they are to their post-baseball lives, trying to fit into some grind of a local economic niche for the rest of their lives. What I'm saying is, yeah, if I was dealt one more bad card, yeah, I might have been a jailkeeper. But that's not where I'm at now. Yeah, I'm so fringey that I'm pretty sure that all four shots below come from the same game, and there's a non-zero chance that they all come from the same pitch. But I'm a lefthanded Syracuse Met who is sometimes a lefthanded New York Met and that's proof that we have some control over our fates. But you, good reader, have a better view than most of where the fates will take me next. I wind, and I pitch, but where the ball is going to end up is what I'm asking you. 21. I would gather that the main thing that's going to change is the main players' concern, and that is blend of the base fabric. The secondary concern that is mostly an issue for fans — the small and universally styled lettering of the names on back — will probably be addressed as a gratuitous bone to chew on and for MLB and Nike to claim that they care about fans. But I fear that the more drastic sea-change — that MLB has moved from raised, sewn-on uniform elements to flat decals — will not be reversed at all. That's a wheel that needs to squeak a lot louder.
22. Pete Alonso hit his celebrated 200th career homerun this weekend. Announcer Gary Cohen termed the shot a "no-doubter." While he indeed crushed the ball, it was a low drive that, as I remember it, landed among the party seats beneath the Modell's sign (the Mo's Zone?). If memory serves, further, then, the ball would have been in play within the confines of Citi Field's original dimensions. Ninety-one of Alonso's 200 career homers have been hit at Citi Field, but it seems worth asking how many of those would have failed to clear the ballpark's original fences. When he passes David Wright on the team's all-time list, as he seems likely to do if the team is able to secure his continued employment, it'll be with some irony that the same edifice that was taking homers away from Wright is being more generous (or, at least, less miserly) to Alonso. 23. If THE SUMMER OF JESSE ever comes up as a category in Jeopardy!, I'm going to sweep. The only time I've ever successfully called in to win a radio contest, it was a Jesse Orosco 1983 question.
24. Fresh off a walkoff win behind the power bat of Mark Vientos, the Mets host the ascendant Chicago Cubs, sitting a half game out of first place in the National League Central, and two and a half games in front of the Mets in the league-wide standings. New York sends Luis Severino to the mound, and he's been good of late, but the Cubs think they've got something good going also, countering with Jameson Taillon (coincidentally also the name of Bob Murphy's usual order at Kelly's Pub), who has won both of the games he's started this year. CD longboxes for everybody!
25. Gosh, Nike is under the bus, as if dozens of parties didn't have to sign off.
