  1. And when McNeil doesn't chase, he doesn't get the call.
  2. We like to chase. Like ... we LIKE to chase.
  3. And Garrett suddenly is the untouchable guy again.
  4. Don't believe in insurmountability. This is baseball.
  5. I don't think Manaea's vitamins have kicked in yet.
  6. Oh, man, delayed steals are embarrassing, and the Mets are down.
  7. Vinny was a confusing figure to me. I know he's a relief pitcher, and can even picture his face and his motion, but I hear or stumble over his name and, for some reason, I think of him as a reserve outfielder that also has some catching experience. Then I realize that I've conflated him with Vinny Rottino. He's really been in Bubble Hell. He's been called up multiple times by five different teams in four seasons, and mostly performed well, but never sticks for more than a few games.
  8. I wonder if Todd Zeile has to sign a one-day contract to be a WPIX employee. This was mentioned during the game last night, but among the many odd things about this road trip is that, during it, Steve Gelbs has worked three different jobs for SNY — play-by-play guy, sideline reporter, and in-studio host.
  9. Adrian was signed to a minor league deal by the Cubs on Tuesday and now toils for the Northsiders' AAA Iowa affiliate. [FIMG=550]https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/05/Adrian-Houser-1.jpg?w=1024[/FIMG]
  10. Well, you may want to cue up your memories of Adam Ottavino. Rough to watch.
  11. Opposite-field dribblers break the camel's back in the seventh.
  12. Boooo! Booo to getting nothing from a two-on/no-out situation.
  13. And instantly a leadoff walk. And damn, I'm alone AS McNEIL CRACKS A HIT!
  14. Looks like Scott Servais is getting ready to pull Miller after six. If that's the way it goes down, it would sure be a servais to the Mets.
  15. Miller has the fastball away working against both lefties and righties.
  16. Yeah, black and blue is always a tough roll, but here they are, winning again. Three two-out hits for the Mets in three innings, all stranded.
  17. Second two-out double in two innings.
  18. Justin Turner looks especially silly.
  19. ME: The Mariners are kind of dressed like clowns. GARY: The Mariners are 9-1 when wearing their City Connect Uniforms. ME: Then they're 9-1 when dressed like clowns.
  20. It's a good park for homers, and a bad one for homer prevention, but the data is kind of mixed as to its overall effect, at least according to https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/minor-league-baseball-park-factors-2023/Baseball America, among other sources.
  21. Peterson reportedly had 30 friends and family on hand. Colorado probably would love to have him. A guy who honed his craft at Rockies altitude, and somehow able to pitch winning ball there, despite not having elite velocity.
  22. Part of what's going on is the presence of robo umps at AAA.
  23. After relentlessly killing it in Brooklyn and Binghamton this season, Brandon Sproat got punched in the face by reality in his first start for Syracuse, giving up six runs in 4 2/3 innings, yielding three walks and seven hits, two of which cleared the fence. I'm guessing that any notion that he'll end the season in New York may have been similarly struck by a haymaker. On the other hand, some guy named DJ Stewart has gone .429 / .579 / .786 // 1.365 in five games since joining the team.
