  1. I'm joining The Warren Commission.
  2. Doinkiest doink in Doinkland ties it up.
  3. Jake McCarthy walks up to "Stairway to Heaven." Come on, man.
  4. Plenty of game to play. No matter who is on the mound, "Let's just shut them down from here" is never a very strong strategy in the sixth at Coors.
  5. Damn, I hoped he could finish. Nothing wrong with one-run ball in Colorado, but he was behind everybody that inning.
  6. Keith was sailing on the same tack.
  7. Not plating Soto after a one-out trip remains the sword of Damocles hanging over the Mets today. Scott's doing terrific, but the outs are getting harder as the team progresses.
  8. You, tuning in just now, are tuning into a team with a 2-0 lead, thanks to a rally generated by perennial All-Stars Austin Slater, Andy Ibañez, and Tyrone Taylor. Vidal Bruján hasn't even gotten up!
  9. Nine pitches through the first (with two strikeouts) for Goodman Christian Scott. He may be ... good! And Austin Slater is now hitting .400 as a Met. That's probably part of why they want to pinch-hit him for Melendez against lefties in high-leverage situations.
  10. FUN VIDAL BRUJÁN FACT: VB is one of only three Vidals in MLB history, following Vidal Nuño (SEA, NYY, ARI, 2013-2018) and Vidal Richardson (1946), who got 10 trips to the plate for the 1946 Cleveland Buckeyes in the Negro American League, which is now recognized as Major League play, but Richardson probably didn't know it at the time. Vidal Sassoon had trouble with breaking pitches and flamed out in AA.
  11. Met fans, it's time you got to meet a fella named Vidal Bruján. He switch-hits, throws fits, and starts when some poor lefty sits. METS Starting Pitcher: Christian Scott (RHP) 0-0, 4.26 ERA Lineup: Juan Soto (L) DH Bo Bichette (R) 3B Mark Vientos (R) 1B Austin Slater (R) RF Marcus Semien (R) 2B Andy Ibáñez (R) LF Francisco Alvarez (R) C Tyrone Taylor (R) CF Vidal Bruján (S) SS COLORADO Starting Pitcher: Jose Quintana LHP 1-2, 4.07 ERA, 12 SO Lineup: Edouard Julien (L) 2B Mickey Moniak (L) LF Tyler Freeman (R) DH TJ Rumfield (L) 1B Troy Johnston (L) RF Willi Castro (S) SS Jake McCarthy (L) CF Kyle Karros (R) 3B Brett Sullivan (L) C
  12. With that win, the Mets pass both the Rockies and Giants in the league-wide standings! THIRTEENTH PLACE!!
  13. It would have been a shame if the ump missed that terrific last pitch after Torrens had just burned his last challenge.
  14. I'm the tying run, and I am on deck. And Manaea is staying out there.
  15. I'm the tying run. I'm on double deck.
  16. Gosh, it's Manaea time.
  17. Semien just needed May to happen.
  18. I've seen games shorter than this Tovar at-bat. Strikeout!!
  19. I don't think I'm going to be able to hang in there for "Mercedes Benz Post-Game Live."
  20. Daddy's fading. At least were up to ... it's only the eighth inning?!
  21. He's having a terrific game.
  22. Gary's testimony notwithstanding, I can get behind Leiper's stop sign there.
