Yankees had second and third and one out in the top of the ninth, but the Guards (a) didn't have the infield in enough, and ( didn't handle the ball when the infield squib happened. Yankz up by one.
Mark Leiter was afraid to throw Naylor a strike, but Naylor chased and chased. Also, if I haven't already noted this, the Guardians' Marathon Petroleum patch may be the fugliest of them all.

Winker didn't get to 2nd on a ball off the wall and Acuna doesn't score from 3rd on a GiDP ... and FOX never showed nor mentioned either. Someone above said the pitcher looked Acuna back but, even so, that's a go on contact play IMO. If they throw home you're almost certainly out but it kills the DP and you've still got a RiSP w/1 out. If they opt for the DP instead then it's a free run. And, hey, LAD might be so surprised that they eff up the play entirely. Hey, I wasn't justifying, just describing it. Rookie mistake. Talent of youth without wisdom of years.

You burn two players, and even a slow runner on 3rd with none out is likely to score. He was on first when he checked in, and then burned ass to third on the next hit.
Seems to me that Woody was the way to go. When Mike Elias took over the Orioles in 2018, he let go of almost the entire scouting staff, but kept Guthrie. I imagine he's going to get a pretty senior position with the Mets. Also worth noting that The Baltimore Banner — a non-profit outlet trying to fill the void left over from the utter gutting of the David Smith-era Baltimore Sun — broke the story.
