Best I could find on the Ryan front is Eduardo Perez, who faced Nolan Ryan three times in 1993 and struck out two times, and then went on to last until 2006. Jim Edmonds faced Ryan as a rookie in 1993, and lasted all the way through to 2011, but he disqualified himself by showing heart, putting the ball in play all three times against the 46-year-old phenom.

I'm thinking the last active player who could say he was struck out by Ryan was Manny Ramirez, who debuted in 1993 and lasted until 2011. OE: That's a no. Manny's only appearance against Texas that year came with Kenny Rogers on the mound.

A quick check suggests Felix Mantilla was not born in Florida, and Curtis Granderson was not struck out by Nolan Ryan. They are indeed all hitters.

I didn't write that "No va" doesn't mean "doesn't go." I wrote that "Nova" is a word with a distinct meaning in Spanish that is pretty much the same meaning it has in English. I don't know what classes you are referring to, but I imagine myths such as this one are discussed in a lot of classes.

Felix Mantilla John Stephenson Art Shamsky Don Hahn Wayne Garrett Chico Walker Rubén Tejada Curtis Granderson What club do all of these beloved Mets belong to? What, besides their Metly status, do they all have in common?

That "no va" thing is mostly a myth. As a Romance language, Spanish includes nova as a distinct word, mostly used the same way it is used in English, to refer to a new star. The car sold well in Mexico and points south.

    Ouch. So much crushing.

    Flagellum.

    Let's go!

Who is next in the pen?

Robert's eye has been strong of late. Strong!

With the red-hot Bichette on deck. (And red-hot Bichette grounds out meekly on one pitch.)

    Avenge Duarte!
  15. Edgy MD
Damn, if Benge played that off the wall clean, that run doesn't score.

Then again, after 3-0 count, Lindor went chasing two very obvious balls with weak swings.

It's possible that all three called strikes to Alvarez were actually not in the zone, but then again, all three of them might have been. The guy can paint.

    But Ded can shred.
  19. Edgy MD
    Well, Hagen Smith is good.
  20. Edgy MD
Young should have bunted, it seems. Alvarez should have challenged. Possibly multiple times.
  21. Edgy MD
Lefty in to face Youngkin, and they probably have to leave him in.
  22. Edgy MD
Leadoff double over Antonacci's headonacci, and now we can get McLoon a lead before pulling him.
  23. Edgy MD
Proceeding a lot more economically than last night anyhow. And a lot cleaner than the last DGaaNG.
  24. Edgy MD
Ron speaking about Jim Crow Laws and The Great Migration. Not the sort of frank talk that you tend to hear on a broadcast. And as he does it, Luis Robert pulls one off the top of the fence. And then Ron endorses The Warmth of Other Suns.

The Mets strategy of load-'em-up-and-go-after-Benintendi may not be sustainable, but it's working for now.
