  1. Mayor of Bridgeton expands on this thoughts.
  2. And here's big D: http://www.livestream.com/brewerfoundationparty/video?clipId=pla_77481806-0bcd-4437-b042-ac74e2f8c3da&utm_source=lslibrary&utm_medium=ui-thumb
  3. And, oh shit, Mazzilli's too big a big shot to come out to Douglaston?
  4. Great job. And I guess the green shoulder is Hernandez. Big fart for me on Fernandez. It's funny how you see what you're looking for. I read that Ojeda was on the guest list, but I couldn't make any of those other faces out as him, so I just stared at Sid until I convinced myself it was Bob. I hadn't seen Sid's name anywhere, so I never thought of him. The turnout for this reunion was better in many ways than the one at Shea in 2006. The big absences were Doc and Dykstra and Carter, but those last two probably couldn't be helped, or shouldn't be. (Orosco was there, right?) A little Teufel love would've been nice , too. But I love that he included peripheral contributors. Wish they had Stanley Jefferson, Rick Anderson, and Randy Myers.
  5. If this doesn't break your heart, you're not human.
  6. Davey Johnson, Ray Knight, Keith Hernandez. Rafael Santana, Kevin Mitchell. OK, front row: Mookie, Backman, Johnson, Some Guy Who's Hit His Limit, Davey Johnson with his arms around a madman, um Coachy McCoachalot, Kevin Mitchell, Bud Harrelson, and, uh, Bob Ojeda on a bad day. Back row, I got Mr. I'll-Hang-Onto-My-Jacket-I-Can't-Stay-Long-Do-You-Have-the-Check in the blue shirt, Kevin Elster in white, two guys I don't know, one of them possibly dead, Santana, Don't Know, Strawberry, A well-tanned pate, possibly belonging to Ron Darling, Ray Knight, the shoulder of somebody in green, possibly Keith Hernandez, Mr. Squinty (Buckner?), Cyclops from the X-Men, Berenyi behind Harrelson, Ed Lynch, Some Guy, Rick Aguilera, and Some Other Guy. How'd I do?
  7. Oh, and since he was on the 25-man roster all year, he got a major league salary. Nice.
  8. I'm not betting he'll get claimed or anything, but I wouldn't be shocked. In this case, the Nats ended up paying 25 Gs for the honor of covering his medical expenses and rehab for a year.
  9. What? During the National Anthem?
  10. Anybody in Appleton, MN on Wednesday might be interested in viewing the documentary KOOZ. Preview: lsCkfy0y-VQ
  11. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: So the Nats took our flamethrower. Oh well. The reports make it seem like a fish story to me. He was a guy with a decent arm, in the 90s and suddenly he's a 99mph guy. And nearly 11 months, a shoulder surgery, and $25,000 later, the Mets get him back. I suppose they could lose him again this draft.
  12. I'm of the position that it's a waste of mental energy (not to mention, potential offense) being afraid of rotating your DH into a position, if it comes to that. Pitchers tend to get pinch-hit for after the fifth inning anyway.
  13. dgwphotography wrote: That can also speak of a change in approach due to the dimensions in right field... Certainly. But whatever the factors, his output has been negatively affected. I'm not presenting this data to argue for this change. I'm saying it's a pretty well supported point that his homerun power the other way had been one of the things that had distinguished him, and that it's not been there as much.
  14. He's certainly taking more than the coward's share tonight.
  15. And a similar survey of this year's homers shows he's gone from hitting 50% of his homeruns from centerfield to the rightfield line to hitting 28.6% there. 16. The point, and it should be obvious, is that Wright's marginal power is hedged to an uncertain degree with difficult power alleys in right and left center. While a typical player may indeed pull most of his homeruns, Wright --- like Strawberry (to a lesser extent) and Piazza before him --- had more success than most distributing them around the park. Here are Wright's homeruns from 2007 --- perhaps his best year, despite going all of April with no homers, four doubles, a triple, and six RBI. 17. Jim Duquette, fighting for his daughter's life.
  18. And he walks to torreload the torrebase with two torreouts. Let's go, Kinsler.
  19. Man, Yorvit Torrealba. What's this Almost-a-2006-Met doing starting a World Series game?
  20. Texas rallying back nicely. Lance Lynn in the game for St. Louis. Theere shouldn't be guys wearing the number 62 pitching in the World Series.
  21. Yeah. Take a lesson from the Astros. Too often you start off on the road to Quirky and end up in Goofy insetad.
  22. Name those '86ers. http://www.examiner.com/baseball-history-in-new-york/1986-new-york-mets-reunion-at-strawberry-s-sports-grill-picture What might have made me drop down that money to attend would have been Bruce Berenyi.
  23. I think you got the order mixed up there. He was called a coward for not speaking with them, and then spoke with them.
  24. Well, Pujols was called a coward on the front page of Yahoo, among other things, which is some really nasty stuff.
