I think it's making the assumption that if it doesn't heal, it's not that it needs more time, it's that it needs to be fixed. there was some thought that Wright had plateau'd in his recovery, which concerns me. Keith certainly goes on and on about that. I tend to agree, but neither of us are experts on muscles. Wright's agent will not let David on the field anything less than 100 percent..Its almost payday. I don't believe a word of this. Payday is two years away. And really, seeing as he's already earning $15 million a year, payday is every two weeks.
  3. Fly out to left. Second single. First and third. Both hits were infield hits directed at May, now playing third. Gulptastic.
  4. Derwood Gorski making his debut in the ninth. Single, sac bunt. One out
  5. I'm going to release an album next year called "This Far from Being a Bum."
  6. Frayed Knot wrote: May is an ex-SS who only converted to catcher a few years back. That probably means he was never a very good SS to begin with but for a backup role that's fine. In the meantime that kind of versatility can be valuable as it helps solve the problem of two catchers not being enough and three being too many. Keep a guy like him who can play elsewhere and it's like having 2-1/2 catchers. Hasn't played short since 2005, but.. Go Lucas! Go Terry! Meanwhilst, the Mets tie it up in the eighth on two walks, ground out, another walk, a wild pitch. They have 10 walks. I think that means we all get pizza.
  7. Taking over at shortstop: Lucas May. For reals! Shmets still trail, 6-5. Terry must be a swirling tornado of anger.
  8. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: who's winning Key detail. Mets have the Tigers burning bright to the tune of 4-2. Mets got all their runs without extra base hits, opting instead for piling singles and walks on top of each other for a four a four-run rally in the third. Fielder took Gee for a two-run homer in the fourth. Otherwise, he struck out five and walked one, pitching deep into the game than any Metrician this spring.
  9. Turner singles in the first, caught stealing. Trying to do too much.
  10. Really? Where do I score some of that action?
  11. We're in warmups here in our Pi Day matchup with the Tigers. Jordany Valdespin should be straining his quad right... about... NOW. Matt Harvey throwing in a minor league game today, reportedly hitting 96 pretty consistently. Asked what he thinks about that, Steven Matz reported that he likes turtles.

  20. Mets notes: Terry Collins lets off steam WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14, 2012 THE RECORD Collins lets off steam Frustrated by his teams three new additions to the injury ward, manager Terry Collins spent 28 fired-up seconds venting that frustration in the clubhouse before Tuesdays game. "Im just getting tired of going in the training room where Ive got to sweat to see who can walk out of there," Collins told reporters. "Thats all. Im sick of it." Add reliever D.J. Carrasco, shortstop Ruben Tejada and infielder Ronny Cedeno to sick bay. Tejada has a strained left groin. Carrasco, according to Collins, twisted his ankle in a hole Monday. Cedeno is battling tendinitis in his knee. "Again, not severe; hell be fine," Collins said of Cedeno. "But can he do things 100 percent? Not for the next couple days he cant." Very few of these injuries concern Collins long term, but he said each one disrupts the teams plans for things such as baserunning drills and infield practice. His raw anger seemed to have evaporated somewhat by the time Collins met with reporters after Tuesday afternoons 7-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. "Im allowed to be frustrated," Collins said. "This is a team Im trying to get ready to win. Im sitting here in front of you telling you how were going to compete. And Im going to tell you what. We arent going to compete if we dont have our players on the field. Weve got to get them ready." "I talk about patience," Collins said. "Right now Im out of it. So Ive got to go back tonight and let my wife beat me up and find my patience again." .. ?!
