I have other sources calling him a switchie. Maybe he quit in college. LJ's a twin, by the way. I think that gives Minnesota the right of first refusal.
Well, I have a clue. Just not much in the way of anything conclusive. I keep any disappointments about Parnell tempered by the realities that the Mets used a ninth-round pick to select a comically skinny guy with an 8.86 ERA from an obscure college in Braves country and made a useful big leaguer out of him. It's almost all bonus.
What's happening there? Why did he come into the game so determined to ruin a perfect weekend? What can be done? He's got the speed, the movement, and the variety. But seems to have no idea where he wants to throw his pitches. Any of them. You're Dan Warthan. How do you begin to fix Parnell?
I like him and I liked him when he was the field coordinator. He was the best minor league field coordinator, whatever the hell that means, the Mets have ever had. That said, if the Mets are giving out extensions, Terry's about 17th on my list.
Nickeas hits a grand slam and gets shipped out. Baxter saves a no-hitter and hits the DL. Nobody leaves the room until he makes a memory indelible enough to at least earn him a share of the post-season pie.
Yeah, what we're really missing --- but it doesn't show when you're getting comfortable complete game shutouts from your pitchers --- is a lefty bat of the bench, where we're left with Valdy and his .100 batting average. We can try and live with that and go with righties like Hairston and Rotttino (and Nieuie and Murphy and Torres and Davis when they might be available), but it's not like the problem is going to go away much when Bay comes back.
Well, we need to call up somebody. Preferably a lefty stick. But with Loewen disabled also, there are no obvious choices. Crazy thought that Den Dekker gets the call from AA.
