  1. This is bionically stupid. Ceetar wrote: I was just citing examples, Of what? Guys who at some point had nice things written about them? Big whoop. Writers have jobs to do. he said media not fans loving/cherishing local guys. This doesn't mean anything. Considering the second half was meaningless last year, he didn't get any unearned time. So, we have nothing further to discuss. His scenario is batshit insane. And we're crediting him with teaching Parnell that curve, so that's a net win anyway. And neither Omar or Sandy was stupid enough to give Frenchy the 3/15 contract that was rumored in the media for a bit near the end of 2010. And yet, we do. For God's sake, stop dignifying his nonsense. Ceetar wrote: But who knows? MFS62 does! Ceetar wrote: Sandy's mentioned clubhouse chemistry before, despite saying he doesn't think too much could be made of it. Often clubhouse chemistry/the media likes you means the same thing. Justin Turner hasn't exactly done anything worthwhile this year. Willie Harris wasn't very good last year and they rode it out all year. (He was a really nice guy in case you haven't heard) Yes, poorer players sometimes continue to get opportunities. It's not because they all went to St. Johns. You're gonna break the internet with this. 62, thank you, but I don't kneed to be shown where to find C.J. Nitkowski's record. Nor do I need clarification on your meaning.
  2. Ceetar wrote: Benjamin Grimm wrote: He certainly wouldn't be so beloved that he'd be impossible to get rid of. Is there a history of fans loving and cherishing local guys with ERA's of 8 or above? That's pretty much what you're predicting. no, there's a media history of loving and promoting these guys. Look at Isringhausen, who was not particularly good last year. Obviously simply mediocre and 8 ERA bad is completely different too. But how many times do they tell us how nice Jason Bay is, or how cool Francoeur was? Oh, Mama, don't you start. How much unearned time did the media's passion for Jason Isringhausen buy him?
  3. 1) Nobody is going to clamor for CJ Nitkowski. 2) Don't listen to WFAN if you don't like it. 3) The end of civilization? Sounds great. 4) He hasn't failed everywhere he's been. 5) He won't be the darling of anything if he arrives and doesn't pitch well. 6) The media doesn't run the team. He's in Binghamton, making soup money. If he comes up, it's because he's earned it. If he doesn't, it's because he hasn't. Finding new, exotic, down-in-the-system reasons to hate the team is megasilly. Please don't start a new Corey Ragsdale campaign. I don't think my heart could take it.
  4. Well, then, if he's gold, he's gold. I'm just guessing at the marketplace.
  5. That post is just filled with the silliest assertions. Please. Stop wasting your fingers and your mind on such nonsense.
  6. Well, sure he hasn't allowed a run since 6/23, but that's six innings, with a vacation and some drained knees in between. I imagine some teams may want to still look at him.
  7. I regret to inform you that I kinda had visions of Wally Backman dancing in my head last night. (The visions were dancing, not Wally, if that's a distinction worth making.) The 2012 Mets have a lot to be proud of, but they're sort of erasing a big chunk of it every night right now. And a big chunk or good will to go along with it. Terry has already had his option exercised for 2013, but that's as much a bonus for the work he's done as a guarantee of his future. I don't think an axing is imminent or anything, but I wonder if something's gonna give. I don't really think too much drama is going to revolve around deadline divestments, as the real interesting case was Johan Santana, and now he's off the table. I think some leadership changes might be coming --- but how many can a team take, without becoming inured. Will more change on top undermine their ability to extend Wright? Will continuing to free fall undermine it?
  8. Little point in moving anybody or anything if the price isn't right. I imagine opportunities don't tend to dry up as the deadline approaches. Rauch needs to prove he's healthy anyway.
  9. It's like something hastily created in underground lab.
  10. Easy. I just had to do some moving around. More importantly, initial reports appear incorrect, and it's not Harvey replacing Beato, but Acosta joining the team. Good for Sandy.
  11. Frank Francisco, who was due to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with the Brooklyn Cyclones, will wait a little longer before working back from a strained left oblique in the minors. Francisco experienced right-knee discomfort Monday, a day after throwing a 40-pitch bullpen session at Citi Field. The team announced he received an anti-inflammatory injection. I think everybody left CitiField with a little knee pain.
  12. Too late or not, it's not too late for tomorrow's game, or the next one. I don't know if it's going to work, either. Certainty of one's fate is an illusion.
  13. We got Harvey. Now we need the wallbanging. 14. Left, center, and right should be in a pretty straight platoon at this point. Need to find a catcher to take the lefties also. I'm still open to bringing up the Pascucci to play some first against lefties. Almost everybody should feel on notice right now.
  15. Not ruthless enough. I'm talking to you, Jason Bay.

But really, I'd be flattered someone's paying attention when I'm returning to a point. It's not like he's disputing the failures of Carpenter.
  17. Way to ruin a perfectly good legacy, Ichiro.
  18. Fuck that. Make your own legends, you fucks.
  19. Come on. Gorzelanny ain't no big thing.
  20. I'm Chris Young, and I don't like to throw strikes to Bryce Harper. It's just not something I'm looking to do.
  21. Nats up 2-zip after two. Lone Met hit was a leadoff single by Tejada, erased by a Valdesping GiDP. Jason Bay looks like he has his strikeout swing working.
  22. Asked about watching the Mets as a kid, first player Matt Harvey referenced was Jon Olerud. #old
