  1. Omar is really unflappable, though, huh?
  2. I like power-hittin' Mets. Can we bring this Slowey guy with us.
  3. Yeah, he's become the righthanded Ike. Pitch him away and let him get himself out.
  4. Try painting. I need the team to score.
  5. Ozuna, the hundreds of people in attendance could all tell that was a trap. You're a rookie. Don't be a big fat liar.
  6. Highlights of Keith unaware that the mic is hot will someday be a bestselling record.
  7. It's a good object lesson. I don't consider it a letdown, but beating the Yankees don't mean the offense has their shit together. And two stupid flares off the end of the bat in the seventh are bad breaks but they shouldn't have been in a position for those breaks being the diff.
  8. Oh, the Mets still suck, et al, but we got ourselves off the no-hit schneid. Another perspective suggests the Mets didn't suck at all, but have ever since. Mets the first two months of 2012: 29-23 (.558) Mets ever since: 67-95 (.414) So, any of us who said, posted, or thought something along the lines of "Whatever else happens this season will be gravy --- we have a no-hitter to forever cherish and it's all worth it!" or the like, let us all step forward and collect our booby prizes. Interestingly, that's exactly 162 games. So I like to think our cosmic debt is paid in full and we get to back to moving forward exactly NOW!!!!
  9. Good point. Yon't even find the odd "Chico' out there anymore. Great shot, though, huh?
  10. Poor Burke. Striding toward the plate like a grownup and everything.
  11. Strasberg pulled after two innings tonight with an undisclosed injury.
  12. And hand it to Muprhy, hitting it just where he hit it last time he came up with Q on base, but this time out of the centerfielder's reach.
  13. Quinto is unflappable, man.
  14. Check out Joe Morgan: Phillies: Reds: And this fantastic shot of him as a hotshot young Astro: Sadly, no shots of him with either of the Bay Area teams.
  15. Nope, first big league hit instead. Down 1-0.
  16. One thing about Strawberry, is there any teammate that guy wouldn't go to bat for? Even as a Yankee, if a teammate was in a fight, Darryl wanted to finish it. I'm not sure not liking McDowell should be held against a guy either. He was one of those ballplayers that Charlie Sheen hung out with, for goodness' sake.
  17. What a tailor-made DP. Mercy.
  18. Ralph always told me not to get annoyed by those sorts of things. "You never know, if the baserunner is still out there," Ralph would say, "if the batter is even going to get the same pitch." Really importantly, however, opposite field double for Davis. BINGO!
  19. There's just something that really really annoys me about strategically manipulating players service time. I get a twitch every time I read the words "Super 2." I don't quite get why it bugs me so deeply.
  20. And he leaves early on a stolen base attempt and gets nailed. Boom! Look at these Mets with the good fundies and everything.
  21. Pierre gets the first Marlin hit leading off the forth. He hurt us last series, too, right?
  22. I've definitely developed a lot of appreciation in recent years for Westrum's thankless role in franchise history. I want to have a son so I name him Noreen.
  23. Met fan/Yankee fan nonsense aside, that's speaks of selling out without so much as a conscience check. Boo.
  24. It's like Gooden changed the game in a way Ryan somehow never did. Once people started waving those K placards, it changed everyone's values.
