  1. He ain't even Josh Satin.
  2. A few obvious points that nonetheless do nothing to quell the silly outrage. None of us know who or what was available last year. There is a real tangible value --- in the future as well as the present --- to not dealing a player who you believe is helping you. Professionals are capable of weighing that value against the value of one more particular player added to the system. It doesn't make them right. But neither does them not dealing make them ignorant that a deal has a value. Driving hard bargains in all your dealings means being willing to walk away from bargains that don't appeal to you. None of that makes Alderson right about this stupid, stupid issue, but there are two sides to the issue, and this writing displays not even a feint at understanding that. Megdal's opinion pieces are clearly agenda-driven, and blushingly embarrassing. It's embarrassing to me to see his nonsense hammered on the walls around here like rock band posters in a college dorm room. I'd like a little honest thought and rational discussion. But all the martyr-baiting is exhausting and depressing. There's baseball going on.
  3. My scouting report: Good arm. Cute wife. Swings at everything like he's a hockey goalie trying to stop everything from getting past him. batmagadanleadoff hates him like stole his kidneys.
  4. Sure sounds nitpickingly bitter to me. I mean, oh fudge, we might have had --- checking paper --- the likes of Ivan Pineyro. Or maybe not. Who's Ivan Pineyro? I don't know, but I'm going to spend years bemoaning his loss under the notion that he was a bird in hand even though we have no idea whatsoever.
  5. Vic Sage wrote: You can shoot the messenger all you want, but the issue is not about Megdal. He's awful. He's getting worse. And the continued reposting of his articles here diminishes us all.
  6. Yeah, let's find him a woman to domesticate his over-exposed ass, rather than one who'll cosmipolitanize it. (And really is there anything sadder and scarier than a cosmopolitan guy who chews tobaccy?) That way he can be a douche one day in five the way great pitchers should be. Surely Nancy Seaver has a grandniece or somebody she can set him up with.
  7. Vic Sage wrote: Is it just me, or has Harvey simply come down to Earth? Is he a flawed mortal after all? Making rounds with a publicity-hungry sexpot saps your focus. Believe me, I know.
  8. I heard the Mets whacked Willie Randolph after the game last night at 4 AM EST, out of force of habit.
  9. Howie and Josh sounding like drunken college kids, trying to find new ways last night to read the same Wendy's promo inning after inning.
  10. The thing is, I realize he's getting a ton of publicity, and that by it's very nature makes him a babe magnet and a walking bottle of SEO hot sauce, but his hostile tobacco-chomping grill suggests to me that he's like, the Met I would least want to see naked, if I was into that sort of thing. Current Mets Roster in the Order of How Much I Would Want to See Them Naked, if I was into That Sort of Thing Anthony Recker Carlos Torres Kirk Nieuwenhuis Eric Young Juan Lagares David Aardsma Andrew Brown Greg Burke David Wright Dillon Gee LaTroy Hawkins Zack Wheeler Jeremy Hefner Scott Rice Daniel Murphy Bobby Parnell Ike Davis Shaun Marcum Omar Quintanilla Marlon Byrd Josh Edgin Jordany Valdespin John Buck Josh Satin Matt Harvey
  11. A win today, combined with a Cubs loss to the Angels, would mean the Mets pass two teams and catch a third. It'd be one of those days that cause everybody to think big things, if only briefly. I never thought I'd say this, but... Go, Joe Blanton!
  12. The win allows the Mets to catch a plummeting San Diego team that has lost 10 straight. They pull within a half game of the suddenly hot Cubs, and a full game behind these very same Giants. Pittsburgh, losers tonight, no longer have the league's best record. Brewers, three games behind us, are our new best friends. Root for the Brewers.
  13. God, when I'm old, I want to be able to say, yeah, I witnessed the longest game ever --- that 39-inning jobby from all those years ago. I was hoping it wouldn't be this night, though. Mets.
  14. There's the swing and the miss.
  15. This is too much of a Wagner outing. Lots of foul balls. Few swings and misses.
  16. Changing pitchers with a 1-1 count? OK!
  17. Centerfield camera filled with boids.
  18. I'm going down for the second time, I think.
  19. Wasn't Satin clean-shaven at the start of this game? Wasn't I?
  20. Gillespie, man. We needed a bird on that one.
  21. I've changed my mind about schools. I'm going to Wright State.
  22. Edgin against Posey is not an ideal matchup.
  23. Come on. We're chasing these guys in the standings.
  24. That was an insanely rapid inning. Why yes, I did enjoy my pee. Can I get another Wendy's commercial?
  25. I'm enrolling at Cal Burkely. Or maybe SUNY Stony Burke. I'm eating a plate or Burkelli. I'm vacationing in the Burkeshires.
