  1. Never! (clutches pearls)
  2. I'm for retiring that ugly championship trophy with all the flags.
  3. Max Byalystock is in jail, and not helping his team.
  4. Not if we don't stay on him and constantly remind him that Jeter is an appropriate role model only for self involved tools of the highest order.
  5. I thought he seemed affectionate toward the source material enough. I dunno.
  6. The other angle seems to suggest something went wrong with her grip and the ball got stuck in her hand. Her form is more or less fine. Beats Mariah Carey, at any rate.
  7. You know, sometimes you may think Japan, or Papua New Guinea, or Madagascar has a strange culture. You scratch your head and shrug because you just don't get it. But take a step back and look at this from an outsider's point of view. What the devil is happening?
  8. Jay Horwitz ?@Jay_HorwitzPR 3m Fans at Thursday's Binghamton game at New Britain will be in for a treat. Justin Turner will sing "Call Me Maybe" with Carly Rue Jepsen.
  9. It's a wonder any of us can breathe, what with all this shocking going on.
  10. Leyland was pretty clear why he chose the eighth. Made all the sense in the world. Especially if you don't care for him, his team, or his league and were rooting for him to fail either way. By the way, what's with all this "Mariano the Great"? Is that a thing?
  11. Reyes Shmeyes. Many of us come from a generation shocked to see Ed Kranepool's number re-assigned in it's first free year to Hubie Brooks. A small generation. And shocked to a minor degree, but...
  12. I think the point is that the logo on the hat doesn't mean he "goes in as" a Royal or Met or Giant or Cardinal or Orix Buffalo at all. It's a just a bronze snapshot, imperfectly representative of his career. It doesn't mean his name is forever linked in Heaven exclusively to that employer alone.
  13. Doesn't it take more than one person involved in an effort to make a "concerted" one?
  14. I didn't like the first one at all... for the first half of it. Then, somehow, halfway through, Gru is reading the girls a story, and I fell apart and completely gave in. They won't sneak another punch by me again. I have my guard UP!
  15. Any idea if he was US or Canadian military?
  16. Ceetar wrote: Not surprising that Fox chose to skip Oh Canada but still wanted to make sure they got the American anthem on the broadcast. Pretty lame to hear that. ESPN radio featured "O, Canada" and it was refreshing to hear it done straight by an operatic baritone (and not even a particualrly great one, to my ears). To hear "The Star-Spangled Banner" by an R&B singer (Candace Glover) afterwards, feeling her way around the last note of each line was a letdown. #oldgrump
  17. Yup, yup, and yup. I tell you though, if Eric Young has the future on this team I hope he has, that playing-on-the-warning-track nonsense has got to stop. The skills are there, but that approach makes him look like an infielder forced into playing the outfield in an emergency out there. And maybe that's what he is, essentially, but he's now 150+ games into his outfielding career. Here's hoping Tom Goodwin takes him somwheres and gives him a long tutelage.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: CF Ben Revere is one Philly who will NOT be in the lineup for this game, not to mention for at least the next six weeks, as he'll be the guy with the busted foot. Hit it to the outfield, Mets. PosLFCFRF GuyD.BrownJ. Mayberry, Jr.D.Young dWAR*-0.1-1.3-1.0 *as per baseball-reference.com Brown may be their most reliable guy out there, but his near-average rating is probably largely a product of his 7 assists.
  19. I just spoke to Worf and he says there's no honor in accepting such an accolade.
  20. And the Astros secure home field advantage.
  21. Paul Goldschmidt, not fooling around.
  22. OK, NL, let's activate Lucas Duda.
  23. Yeah, they're really gonna get a six-out appearance by Rivera. Good luck with that notion.
  24. Oh, come on with "Sweet Caroline."
  25. I seem to remember Prince was mostly decent on defense.
