  1. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: We just don't represent any kind of threat to anyone..., A statement that could refer to the Mets' offense, but NOT to JCL trying to enter the center field seats.
  2. Even more grave than the notion that all Hairston can do is hit lefties is the notion that all Byrdak can do is pitch to lefties. I mean, Byrdak isn't just a lefty --- he's a 40-year-old, BS-dealing, journeyman, junkballing, good-quote spewing, briefly effective in his senior years, lefty specialist coming off a year of rehabbing. He was meat for the likes of Hairston --- even the interstate-hitting version of Hairston.
  3. Tying run d'Eck.
  4. Hairy screws his former teammate.
  5. Who doesn't like the odd horizonties?
  6. Any word with regard to Turner's injury? He's hitting like he hasn't all season and kapowie. He's down like a brick in the water. "Collective meh" --- Josh's characterization of the Citi Field fans' response to Frank Francisco's 2013 home debut.
  7. Brad Benson just used the word "A-Hole" in his stupid ad.
  8. Mets showing some wa.
  9. Murphy gets his hits in against Washington.
  10. Those were the best years of my life.
  11. From 1978 to 1983, most of the Torre and Bamberger eras. It surprises me how few remember they were ever there. I almost got drummed off the MOFo in my first year there referencing WMCA and getting tagged as a confused Yankee fan.
  12. Missed that. My eyes ain't so good. Who are the others? Todd Helton and Tino Martinez?
  13. I didn't use that phrase, but yeah, you can ask the Google.
  14. To me, WMCA-570 was the station I first tuned them in on and the frequency whose association with the team I therefore most cherish.
  15. Neither Kent nor Hamiltoe. I imagine it would be Hell on a realtor to show Kent's house, constantly having to clean up post-tantrum detritus --- strewn clothes, destroyed furniture, holes smashed in the wall, baseball bat-battered appliances.... It'd be pretty weird to know that Kent's rec room displayed not one, but two Barry Bonds jerseys. And while I'm submitting, Solo picks the right cue and nails it. That's 8601 N 59th Place, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253 --- where the hunting's good and the schools are to die for. You're up, Solo. Nicely played.
  16. That's a 14-shot photo essay speckled with visual cues, but no guesses.
  17. Zvon wrote: The outside pics look like the house of the widow lady on The Bridge. That last pic, of the batting cage.....to think of a home with that right there on the grounds makes me salivate more than any image can portray. That's there for existential reasons, to remind him that a cage, no matter how extravagantly appointed, is still a cage.
  18. This mission-style home is your six-bedroom, seven-bath, 9,300 ticket to Metly lifestyle. It was once sold for over $7 million back when the realty world was booming, but was reduced to $3.95 million back in spring of 2012. It went in April of that year, but I have to log in to find out how much it went for. The nearby equestrian trails were a big selling point. For all it's extravagance, the kitchen sink is so tiny that I want to cry. I want to conclude that it's a secondary kitchen, but I see no other in the photos.
  19. Benson.
  20. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Benjamin Grimm wrote: It may make you yawn, but it matters to me. I like having the Mets on AM radio because I can't get New York City FM signals where I live. I don't spend a whole lot of time listening to the Mets on the radio, but I do like having it as an option. Get the MLB At Bat app. it's amazing, giving you all the Mets games -- and any other game you want. I listen in the car and at home all the time. That would involve getting a smart phone, and I have no intention of doing that any time soon. I guess if I decide to not keep up with the times, I can expect to be left behind. Not having the Mets on the radio would have been a much bigger problem for me 25 years ago than it would be in 2014. Listening through your computer while posting at the Crane Pool --- GOOD TIMES.
  21. I'm not sure what good innovation would look like, but that would sure be great. I get the idea that MLB does their best to control teams' experiments into nu media initiatives.
  22. Kind of a KeithyRon hybrid, no?
  23. i just like the notion of Lonn F. Trost saying "I am close with some entity."
  24. Oh, agreed, and trending deeper in that direction every day. Just don't tell him. I think he started out with the belief that he was rocking the Keith.
