This was all an elaborate ruse orchestrated by the Mets to limit Harvey's innings while not seeming like timid little bunny rabbits. Terry Collins is ashamed he participated and will tell all, sooner rather than later. Mark my words.

It would be some comfort, I suppose (for Harvey, not least of all), if this wasn't really a matter of debate and after the consultations, the best course of action was clear and obvious. But it appears to be a judgement call, which means endless second-guessing no matter what.

Alumni outreach that includes players outside of the following: - 86ers - Rusty - Seaver - Piazza - Franco I dunno. I think they do a good job (though not great) here. Problem is that when they ask someone like George Foster to show up on the first day of sales at the stadium, they get mocked. (Folks on the line --- as opposed to the snarky folks online --- tend to love it.) Folks seem to rip the Mets for the narrative of failure that they themselves indulge in, and then they rip the Mets for fleeing the narrative of failure. I salute all Felix Millan Days now and into perpetuity. -
I mention that above. And if the team is going to be damned either way, we should proceed with caution into the damning party.

That would be something akin to selection number five, I think. Whatever choice is made, the Mets will be torn to shreds in the next 24 hours. And part of the tearing will be the suspicion that whatever choice is made will be made in part to avoid being torn to shreds.

Some time in the next few hours, perhaps shortly, we'll find out the decision Matt Harvey and the Mets make with regard to his future and that of his UCL.
