  1. I don't see why that should be true. Young was tradeable enough mid-season when he was playing terribly for the Rockies. Why should he be un-tradeable after rebounding to salvage his season and win a stolen base title?
  2. Yeah? Well Tommy Hanson knows Hanson.
  3. Have you met Louis Poggi?
  4. Sheesh. Who's overhyping? Most Met fans I'm meeting online are still infuriated.
  5. Remember when used to have two or three of these polls every offseason? Been awhile.
  6. It depends on what who we would put at second base. There is no doubt in my mind that Hardy + replacement level second baseman is superior to Tejada/Murphy. Hmmm, I imagine I have a doubt or two. Grass is greener and all. On the hand of the opposite side, though, I feel confident that whoever they choose among Young, Satin, Tovar, and Tejada, Flores would probably be above replacement level. But yeah, how do we expect the Baltimores will go for this?
  7. Beyonc? You don't c. Man, getting schooled on pop culture by Ben Grimm is embarrassing.
  8. Curtis Granderson, still a single man. Who's his +1 for the Beers/Wright wedding? Curly? Abby? Marty? Selfie? Slinky? Eighties? One of the Sportsfans? Leyland?
  9. 'Ceptin' they would lose Hardy in a year, too.

  11. The Yankee joins the Mets for four years and $60 million.
  12. They have no clue the of their faux pas, do they?
  13. How could they spend three years preparing for Rivera's retirement and still not have a successor in place? Is Joba a starter or a reliever this week?
  14. And not onlys that, I really prefer American women. They do things Russian girls never dream of doing... like showering.
  15. Laggy in New York getting his precious precious knee examined.
  16. Played good D, played with Carter, and wore 11, but I don't recall him ever wearing 17.
  17. If by "just," we mean June 2012. But that's certainly no reason to not pursue and sign as many talented shortstops as is cost-effective.
  18. Gary Templeton? But he... was bad!
  19. Yeah, well, that's what you get for being so sure. I I saw it still to play out, and suspected capitulation was coming. Never quit on Jay Z. Conflicting leaks coming from multiple directions at the same time definitely suggested the truth was still further down the road. And for Pete's sake, it was Belushi, not Steve Martin.
  20. (I'm a little concerned about Humble Pie on the undercard.)
  21. It will, though. Gary will say it with a twinge of irony, but he'll say it. And once he repeats it 37th time, the irony will be lost.
  22. By the way, Terry Bross is something of a pimp.
  23. This totally puts a wet blanket on the Nelson Cruz buzz, doesn't it? So our outfield, while stronger by bounds, remains as muddled as ever. MLB 25-Man Roster: Brown, Duda, Granderson, Young, Young. Also on 40-Man Roster: den Dekker, Lagares, Niuewenhuis, Puello. So despite Lagares' performance, he suddenly finds himself on the outside until/unless they (a) make room for Duda at first, ( make room for Young at second, © trade an outfielder, or (d) try to push Brown through waivers.
  24. Marketing-wise, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the guy. Seattle still has a world of guys yearning to remain hip despite their advancing years, and they're certainly as vulnerable as any to the notion that rooting for an Afro-Dominican by way of New York repped by Jay-Z makes them hip. Plus forget not that the Mariners are still owned by Nintendo, which has avenues of exploitation on the Pacific rim that few other teams could offer. Competition-wise, yeah, that contract's a terror, and if he doesn't produce and the team doesn't excel, all the marketing opportunities quickly grow thin, but they're betting their hopes and not their fears. Beyond that, if you believe the spooging folks have been doing about the stockpiles of talent in Houston's farm system, you perhaps don't feel as sad for them.
  25. I thought there was yet another card to be played. Impressive. How often in the free agency era has an All Star-level Yankee property walked on them? Reggie Jackson? John Wetteland? With both those guys, the team had seemingly superior new talent already in place.
