  1. No, I just do not think it is really the issue. It is disguising itself as such.
  2. I mean, it isn't good. Of course it isn't. But it really is more symptom than disease. More than a few times during this alleged streak, a pitcher has been pitching reasonably effectively — or maybe better than that — through five, with a perfectly reasonable amount of pitches thrown, and he still gets pulled. Holmes got pulled today after 75. If this is the Mets crashing, it is the Mets crashing by design. This is a team that is engineering the game into the pen's hands.
  3. Team Name Suggestion 1: The Syracuse Tin Men Please include a brief 'why this name' if you'd like! I propose this name in honor of the Heaphy Tin Man sculptures that have been a defining part of the Syracuse cityscape for over a century. A Heaphy Tin Man is also rumored to have inspired the recently departed Ozzy Osbourne to write "Iron Man." Even though the phrase "Team Name Suggestion 1" seems to imply that I can make more than one submission, after a few page refreshenings, I could not figure out how. My second suggestion was going to be "The Syracuse Caterpillars," in honor of author/illustrator Eric Carle, Syracuse native and author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. If anybody wants to steal that fantastic second idea, please go ahead, and be good enough to please split your massive prize money with me. I figured the first had a shot, because it is two words (blame M*A*S*H*, not me), kind of targets children and REALLY old people, and piggy backs on a rock-solid, established MGM property, without actually being an intellectual property infringement. I figured the second had a shot, because it aims right for that juvenile demographic. Both names have obvious logo/mascot potential.
  4. Really good until Willy Adames speared him with two outs while he was pitching a mopup ninth. Added bonus in that he floundered for the Yankees. His third 2025 team (and fourth 2025 term of service) comes as a Baltimore Oriole, claimed off waivers as he was today by those larcenous Birds. Birds of prey, they are!
  5. If it comes down to Taylor against a righthander in the ninth, do you send up Baty, Mauricio, or Mullins. Gotta be Ronny, right?
  6. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Sorry if i missed this elsewhere, but why does the grass look so shitty at Citi lately? Limp Bizkit concert. I mean, it's gotta be, right?
  7. Tyrone Taylor may have just saved his Metly life. For the time being, anyway.
  8. Darryl sitting in the front row behind the on-deck circle. He is kind of a captive to Pete Alonso right now, as it is his historical role to be present and gracious if and when Alonso breaks his record.
  9. I am certain that the cutesy names do not come from 22-year-old female marketing interns, but from outside consultants with graphs showing those cutesy nicknames producing revenue spikes, particularly on the merchandising side. Brand awareness and reach also go through the roof.
  10. Yeah, I am thinking of starting a thread suggesting Mauricio abandon hitting righthanded altogether.
  11. =Gwreck post_id=200344 time=1754416300 user_id=56] It's better examined by looking at plate appearances: Vientos: 303 PA, .281 OBP Taylor: 298 PA, .254 OBP Baty: 293 PA, .291 OBP Torrens: 218 PA, .284 OBP Acuna: 175 PA, .295 OBP
  12. I don't know how healthy Jett Williams' wheels are, but if he can give you something like the Taylor defense, he can presumably provide the righthandedness, the pinch-running, and the ability to hit like a good AA hitter that Taylor is currently offering, and presumably his batting eye is ready to perform at this level, even if his bat itself is not. That might look good alongside those sub-.300 OBPs. And presumably as well, he gives you something like the Acuña versatility. Also, unlike his fellow Bingo outfielder prospects, he has been to AAA. So yeah, I can get behind that.
  13. Every time my young self saw that Heart video, I would misinterpret the opening. It would scan past a few longhair, brooding faces, then a few more, then a few more still, and I would think "Man, Heart has a lot of people in the band these day." When the pan would finally get to the stage, I would have my mistakes clarified for me, but instantly begin wondering when Peter Frampton joined Heart, before realizing only through several shots and the process of elimination that I was mistaking Nancy Wilson for him.
  14. The intentional balk is suddenly a part of the game.
  15. Vientos-Mullin-Baty-Torrens due up in the bottom of the inning. Hard.
  16. Nimmo needs to sit a night and figure out how that hole got in his bat.
  17. [bIGPURPLE]$$$!!![/bIGPURPLE]
  18. I was thinking that needed to walk Kwan, pitch to Martinez, then walk Ramirez, and pitch to Fry. But Kwan pops up!
