  1. Mr. Met is Mr. Met. But the Phanatic's alright too. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: I'm pretty sure I've seen Colon giggle to himself, like, three times tonight. It's understandable, and charming, AND creepy, all at once. And now he's tossing the ball to himself between batters. He couldn't look any more relaxed if he had those pedicure things between his toes. Wifey MD remarked how relaxed Eveland and Black seemed to be as they took over also. With the big lead and the last-place team and Colon's unflappability to feed off of, and the homecoming to a stadium that's finally kind of like a home, this may be one the more chill wins I've seen in a while.
  2. Jacob deGrom, 2-0, 0.68, is your National League Player of the Week. [fimg=600:1uvrd719]http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.1883100.1406578113!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/article_970/mets-brewers-baseball.jpg?enlarged[/fimg:1uvrd719]
  3. Yankees lose. Nats lose. Mets win and gain on first.

  5. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Oh, I don't mean I wouldn't want to pay it. I mean, it's a long, big contract for these guys to take on. I don't believe, if they believe he's worth it, according to their calculus, they wouldn't pay it. Whether he is worth it, and whether he's worth the package that Colorady will ask, that's certainly another question.
  6. O'Connor deeming him un-worthy ("Jeter's position"? Really?) only serves to grease the skids to Flushing. It's a long deal, but he's got a lot more chance of living up to it than Johan Santana (for instance) ever had of living up to his.
  7. Oh, man. That was enough for me.
  8. Man, the Phils look awful right now.
  9. AJ Burnett, you've been Little d'd.
  10. Byrd doesn't joke around out there.
  11. I may be crazy or paranoid, but Doc Gooden doesn't sound as good tonight as he had been.

  13. Ashie62 wrote: Tulo is injured more than Reyes was.. #1 Well, that depends on how you frame the question, I imagine. He certainly is good more than Reyes was.
  14. Ceetar wrote: I sometimes wonder if like ESPN whispers to a writer "hey, we need something to talk about, start up a trade rumor for us. big guy." Except we're days from the trade deadline. Nobody has to fabricate anything in order to pursue a story.
  15. I doubt this, but is Felix Mantilla our Boston Brave?
  16. More reputable sources (Jeff F. Passan, are you reputable?) continue to run with reports of the Mets making serious inquiries about serious shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. I'm too old to get excited by anything less than a bird in the hand, but I guess I hear gears moving. What do you think is going to happen with the Mets and this oft-injured Hall of Fame-quality talent? [fimg=600:1hghcp60]http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.607988904863532519&pid=15.1&P=0[/fimg:1hghcp60]
  17. My position is that Girardi is gonna singlehandedly keep Posada out of the Hall of Fame, by cutting Jorge's career short as a player at the beginning, and as a manager at the end, both choices being questionable.
  18. Elston Howard, Yankees
  19. Pumpsie Green, Red Sox
