  1. Skies pouring down buckets here in the mid-Atlantic. Clippard, be a dude.
  2. Frayed Knot wrote: Rut-Roh Scooby! NO, NO, NO! We need to post effectively if we're going to carry the day here. It's "Rut-Roh, Raggy!" or "Rut-Roh, Reorge!"
  3. Tejadajada is something like a .300 hitter since he got his shortstop job back.
  4. Frayed Knot wrote: Barmes's E on a potential GiDP ball probably keeps Niese in the game as Campbell was on deck. Don't quite understand wanting to yank Niese so early. Yeah he gave up a run last inning but 2 of the 3 hits were cheesey/lucky. He was balky-wild and gave up at least one hard out, according to my Howie.
  5. Park Slope Day Kamp representing up in the bleeds:
  6. Lookin' forward to seeing Zvon's first Uribe Kaboom! graphic.
  7. Every time this thread bounces to the top of the forum, I get the idea that Mejia failed another test. And another.
  8. Don't warm Robles. Warm up Clippard. That's what he's here for.
  9. Curtis Granderson: Decidely un-sucky. And don't be so quick to absolve the journalists, Howie. They stated something as fact that wasn't.
  10. Five innings of shutout ball in. Looks like Good Niese is back.
  11. Melvin Upton, Jr. still strikes me as the name of somebody who fronts a tasteful little jazz combo. [fimg=400:18c1sf52]http://artisanage.com/sax/img/galleryAlto/BlackWhiteSaxman2.jpg[/fimg:18c1sf52] Originals and reworkings of standards. The Melvin Upton, Jr., trio. You should hear their take on "Snowbird."
  12. Yeah, that's sorta Lagares without the upside. Likely comes cheap, but arguably makes things more crowded but not necessarily better. He knocks Campbell off the roster, but maybe wouldn't play much more unless Terry fell in love with him and used him as an excuse to knock Granderson out of the leadoff spot. You talk to me about Detroit, and I see J.D. Martinez and Yoenis Cespedes and my eyes wander not toward Rajai Davis.
  13. Weirdest morning-after-the-night-before day-game atmosphere at Citi Field since the Mets took the field with K-Rod in the pokey.
  14. Player's performance declines: "He doesn't suck, he's hurt! He'll stop hurting soon, you just wait!" Player's contract status is compromised by his injury: "He's not hurt, he just sucks! He'll stop sucking soon, you just wait!"
  15. metsmarathon wrote: are you fucking kidding me? imagine hte outcry if hte mets pulled a player out of a game because social media had reported that the player had been traded, when in actuality, the trade was never consummated. it would be epic. truly epic. fuck this noise. lgm! lgwf! Preach.
  16. There may not be anything forthcoming. But I have no doubt they're working hard to close a plan B. If they don't, Sandy will tell how they're continuing to explore the post-deadline waiver trade market. And hate will rain from the skies.
  17. Expected to be activated for Friday's game.
  18. Some stories in my Yahoo news feed this morning: [list:2dhxarok][*:2dhxarok]Mets Trade for Another All-Star[/*:m:2dhxarok] [*:2dhxarok]A Look at New Brewers Pitcher Zach Wheeler[/*:m:2dhxarok] [*:2dhxarok]Britney Spears Flashes a Huge Smile While Doing a Perfect Split in a Tiny Bikini[/*:m:2dhxarok][/list:u:2dhxarok]
  19. Jon Niese opposes Andrew Cashner. Mets who've hit Cashner well include Juan Uribe and Daniel Murphy. Pads who've hit Niese well make for a long list. Don't have another baby today, Mrs. Niese.
  20. I'm not sure, but I think a Milwaukee reporter declared the deal done first. I would speculate that he got it because somebody in the Brewers front office told Gomez the news when he was on the plane, and Gomez sat on it for about two seconds. I want to blame the Mets booth for getting all blabby, but I have to wonder how the MLB.com editors can look at themselves in the mirror this morning. If they can run the story without getting a confirmation from 24-7 Jay Horwitz, what more authoritative source so the piggybacking outlets have to confirm it with before they all fall like dominoes? Should they all have to get a confirmation from an authorized Mets source before giving a peep? It's a good time to tip a hat to Bernard Shaw the CNN anchor who refused to report Florida won by Gore back in 2000, when everybody else ran with it.
  21. Some reports say that Gomez was notified by the team. Maybe he's the source of the premature leak. There's a lot of "only the Mets!!" out there. Of course, it happened the day before to the Dodgers and Marlins.
  22. MFS62 wrote: I believe a PTBNL cannot be named now. Period. With Wheeler being named, it violates the spirit (if not the letter) of that rule. That's what I meant. He would have to find a way around the rule once Wheeler's name has been leaked. Later Plenty of such players have had their names prematurely leaked. It has not tended to invalidate the deal. The team denies or no-comments on the specific player and the world spins on.
  23. MFS62 wrote: Then, how can a player on the DL (60 day or otherwise) be traded? Historically, by designating the player as a player to be named later. I'm not sure what this has to do with Alderson.
