Holy smoke! One last 99-er.

Rendon reaching second with Harper coming up makes me unhappy. We need us a Blevins.

Lexus of Route 10 is giving inaccurate reports on New York Mets history.

We'll have to ask Conforto's mother what she thinks of that analogy.

Duda is allowed to hit singles?

Cool that the runner were afraid to tag on Cespedes. We're back in the dugout.

Taylor is Syndermeat.

Just keep it coming.

Zimmerman, meet the Hook from Hell.

Gone!! Gone!! Gone!!!

Send the apple up while McCatty is at the mound. First Methit for Cespedes.

HAH!!! TWO STRAIGHT PITCHES!!!

I give a flying fuck about flying baseballs into the upper deck, though. Curtis Granderson: DECIDEDLY NOT SUCKING!

No pressure, Noah.

Cespedes in center after a one-game tryout for Curtis. Kelly Johnson over Conforto. Certainly not indefensible, but Terry is practically Delphic in his elusive lineup reasoning.

Was it Igarashi he was decrying in the Met fan movie?

Best thing about this, though, is that the Mets finally have a lineup that might cause a manager to have the occasional dilemma.

Smells like first place spirit. Sunday game of the week so I guess about all of us can see the Metsies tonight. LETS GO METS! With some bats now! They're more dangerous! They're the Mets now! They'll out-gain us! Pitch to Duda?! Or Cespedes?! They're the Mets now! They'll out-gain us! A Bartolo! A Conforto! Danny Muno! Travis d'Arnaud! Yeah!

And yet Matt Williams hasn't found a spot to get either of his top relievers into either game. Fine by me Matty boy. Save 'em for tomorrow when we'll be up by a half-dozen or so. That's the funny thing. The whole Cespedes-or-Duda thing didn't have to happen. You had bullpen options. Bring in a righty to pitch to Cespedes and a lefty to pitch to Duda. Or a righty to pitch to Cespedes and you walk Duda. That was the ballgame right there and you had bullets to fire.

August 8, 2011, Mets score five in the eighth and ninth to take a back-and-forther with the Padres. Mike Baxter debuts with a pinch-RBI double in the eighth, leading to a fiesta breaking out among a huge contingent of ticket-holding Baxters and Baxter supporters. Offensive game starts with a leadoff homer by Pagan and ends on a two-run walk off grounder by Duda. Mets somehow survive gasoline-on-the-fire relief work by Pedro Beato and Ryota Igarashi. Starting for the Padres that day? New Met Tim Stauffer!
