Sandy The Brewers have lost their desire for us I spoke to 'em just last night And they said they won't offer Gomez and Fiehrs to us anymore

The ever-reliable Joel Sherman reports that the availability of Wheeler is linked to the emergence is Michael Fulmer: 6-2 / 1.88 at Bingo, with 83 strikeouts and 23 walks in 86 innings. I'm wondering if AA Fulmer or Wounded Wheeler is a better chip on the market.

It's not like the rest of the industry has expressed distrust of the Mets' people. Quite the opposite. I had some guy assuring me that Ray Ramirez somehow, given 10 days, broke Steven Matz. I wish it was that easy, as trainers and medical staff are a lot easier to move on from than a single guy with a skill set that declines after 30 who you're locked into for multiple years and $100 million.

Man, he just rawks. I got his autograph when I was 15 and I've stuck with him through all sorts of self-indulgence and self-delusion. But every now and then, he does something crazy like knock off Morrissey in "Girls in their Summer Clothes" and just lands it, and all is forgiven. I heard "She's the One" on the way to work the other day, and even though it's a night-time song, it hit me right... there... you know? And I just couldn't turn the radio up loud enough, and suddenly it was me and the street, and I'm taking the turns hard, and passing with confidence, and cutting loose and owning the moment. Pissed my wife off to no end. Bruce, man. Bruce.

I ain't allowing covetousness due me in. I view him with suspicion. Suspicion! And Flores may suddenly have gone from our starting shortstop to the dark half of a platoon second baseman, but he's still at the top of the depth chart on opening day 2016 when Johnson and Uribe and Murphy are all presumably gone.

Would mean two months of Grandy in center.

Today's loss bothers me. Not getting Carlos Gomez, not so much. He's still young. He could heal and still have some good play ahead of him. But I get a mere eight months to find out? And I'm giving up Flores and Wheeler to find out? And take on all the financial risk? He's barely outplayed Flores on his own this season as it is.

I'm sure they were willing to do that. Just not at the price.

And Lunchy gets taken down mid-post by Sandy's minions.

I have this weird expectation that it wouldn't be nearly as demoralizing to let the Pads leave town with the game suspended. There's no outcome, and the Mets only lose half a game instead of a full one in the standings.

Top of the order due up for Mets... someday.

Wow. Maybe going back to Familia wasn't the right idea.

Flubble. Bear down, you Mets.

Cool, there's still a crowd.

So, does Familia come back out?

I don't think the heavy stuff's gonna come down for quite awhile.

Howie just said "Ruh-Roh."
