  1. I don't want to be a hater, because I'm not, but there's something that has me absurdly uneasy about Billy Joel singing the nation anthem. Is Glenn Close retired from singing?
  2. Silver hints at it, but while it's nice to see so many smart people grasp and reach for a leg of hope on behalf of the Mets, they might indeed be right that the outcome in the first two games is somewhat flukey, but it doesn't particularly matter. Those two games are on the books. They're not coming off, and five remaining games is hardly enough to wait for flukes to correct themselves. The Mets have to bop their way home.
  3. Bloody fucking yes.
  4. One. Game. At. A. Time. Anything is possible likely, even if you can take it step-by-step.
  5. Yeah, maybe it's not enough that Uribe is on the roster. Maybe the Mets have to actually deploy him.
  6. Which one of you is taking care of parachuting in with a banner tomorrow? We've got this covered, right?
  7. Wow, that's a tough break. They won a tough-assed division that was totally up-for-grabs at mid-season. But man, they paid for it, and turning the burden of the Jos Reyes deal into the triple burden of the the Troy Tulowitzki package was a hell of a last-minute addition to the ongoing payroll heft.
  8. Chip Hale.
  9. Vic Sage wrote: i missed the whole "veiled racism" thing. i guess i don't pay much attention to him. And I'm sure it has brought you happier living. That crazy lady who threatened the clerk at the towing pound, she's on my ballot also.
  10. It's funny. The grace of our pitching staff is how they pound the strike zone. And the big swinging teams that are looking for walks and homers are overwhelmed by it. But they're facing a different kind of team. Maybe this is a squad they need to tease more with pitches out of the strike zone.
  11. Mets lost by one in Game One in 1986. Lost by six in Game Two. So yeah, that hole is real, that hole is difficult, but it isn't insurmountable. What's interesting to me IS that Clippard and Niese struck guys out. They're not as programmed to pound the strike zone as Harvey, Wheeler, and Colon. And I'm wondering if Syndergaard can adapt a little to what they're doing. Maybe this is the kind of team Zack Wheeler would dominate. Is he available?
  12. Wow, I'm trying to respect these professional dudes and all, but I'm thrilled with both of those moves.
  13. Well, it's ON YOU to find another mantra. DANCE DANCE DANCE? WOCKA WOCKA WOCKA? Give me something.
  14. Well, I was right about him going to Florida. I just had the wrong team and position.
  15. In the great big world of sports broadcasting, he probably isn't, but he certainly indulges in every hateful infuriating, listener-baiting tactic that the diminishes the culture. He's a bully that encourages his listeners to bully on his behalf, he's a snot, he's a childish screamer, he's a race-baiter, he's a megalomaniac, and he seemingly has a plastic surgery problem, which is kinda weird for a radio personality. His setting himself up with FOX Sports and then, instead of leaving ESPN, deliberately getting himself fired with a barrage of thinly veiled racism was the icing on the cake. Which, of course, just validates the assumptions that FOX Sports echoes the generally understood ugliest values of FOX News.
  16. Maybe get deCigar out of deGrom's mouth for deTime being. I dunno.
  17. Nego majorem, man. She'd probably just be a granny on roller skates.
  18. Yeah, I don't know why Terry gave them an explicit pass on this. I guess because he thought it would only result in a distraction. Or there's some sort of unwritten rule that says, "We all know pitchers all over the league and on every team use the stuff, but we all agree not to call each other on it, unless they stockpile it on their person." Obviously (1) pitchers don't have shinguards, and (2) catchers transfer baseballs, and whatever is on them, to the pitcher.
  19. Man, they're gonna have to come back here and clinch on the road.
  20. Man, it's so refreshing to see a team that swings so aggressively and makes such consistent contact. At least, it would be refreshing if they weren't throwing acid into my dreaming eyes.
  21. Thought we had a play there, but the angle behind home platelet said... no chance.
  22. No matter how this series breaks, deGrom is a champ.
  23. Don't worry. You're still the president of Poland.
  24. Murphy was in position there, Luke.
  25. Man, Spidey REALLY likes McDonalds. I wonder why he's celebrating his love for the Mets by going to a high school gym with a bunch of folks with pink balloons.
