  1. I like that the Mets have instituted a you-don't-start-if-you-ended-yesterday's-game-by-grounding-into-a-double-play rule.
  2. So yeah, when they pinch-hit Ewing for Brujan, they could have (a) pinch-hit Baty instead, and had him slide in at third, pushing Bichette to short, or (b) pinch-hit Ewing (as they did, of course), and kept him in at center, sent Benge to right, MJ to first, Vientos to third (where he could have been pinch-hit for in the ninth by Baty), and Bichette to short. Or they could have done all of that but pre-emptively inserted Baty at third in the top of the ninth. The point being that Vientos did not have to face Iglesias in the ninth. Baty is slumping just as hard at this point, but at least you get the better matchup and better speed and defense. I think they kind of hate the idea of M.J. in the infield, though, even for one desperate inning.
  3. Well, smoke. Alvy and the double-play.
  4. Raisel up to 14 pitches. If Alvy can lay off the slider, it can go deeper.
  5. And Baty should be up here, right?
  6. Weird, weird call, but a double is as good as a homer from the Mets' point of view.
  7. This is a homer. But they have to reconceive the seating on that deck.
  8. No, apparently Baty is in for Benge, and they left Vientos in.
  9. Baty is in for Vientos now right?
  10. Glad to see Ewing pinch-hitting, but curious how they will rotate him into the lineup as he is replacing Brujan. He goes to the outfield, Melendez to first, Vientos to third, and Bichette to short?
  11. Well, we were getting good stuff from Warren until he hung an 0-2 slider to Harris. That's AAA sloppy, Austin.
  12. Didier Fuentes has Alvarez chasing sliders thrown toward the first-base on-deck circle.
  13. I like to see a challenge turn into a walk. I like to see the Mets turn anything into a walk.
  14. Turns out that Sean Manaea is money in the first after all.
  15. Vientos, Wagaman, and Brujan all released from extended periods of internal exile! Melendez left in there to take his hacks against the lefty! And lastly, Sean Manaea getting his first start of the season! ATLANTA Starting Pitcher: Martín Pérez LHP 4-3, 3.02 ERA, 47 SO Lineup: Mauricio Dubón (R) LF Michael Harris II (L) CF Ozzie Albies (S) 2B Matt Olson (L) 1B Austin Riley (R) 3B Eli White (R) RF Jorge Mateo (R) DH Ha-Seong Kim (R) SS Sandy León (S) C METS Starting Pitcher: Sean Manaea LHP 1-1, 5.02 ERA, 45 SO Lineup: Carson Benge (L) CF Bo Bichette (R) 3B Juan Soto (L) LF Mark Vientos (R) 1B Marcus Semien (R) 2B Francisco Alvarez (R) C Eric Wagaman (R) DH MJ Melendez (L) RF Vidal Bruján (S) SS
  16. Brock of ages!
  17. When people shit-talk David Stearns, he tells them how he drafted Misorowski in the second round and wears it like a badge. Marlins have been absolutely aflame since the Mets swept 'em.
  18. Williamz up to 22 pitches, 10 in this plate appearance alone.
  19. This Ritchie guy sure has given his bullpenmates a bailout.
  20. Tying man at the plate. Time to go to the pen.
  21. A seeing-eye single and 'Lanta closes it to a three-run game.
  22. The Mets have really been running the same lineup out there for the last two weeks and Brujan, Wagaman, and Vientos have become forgotten figures.
  23. Huascar the huastar!
  24. They even have a relative landslide of two walks tonight.
