Wait, we're talking about 2015 here. The Nats would have had to have traded for Cespedes, outbidding the Mets.

Alls I can say is start coordinating lobbying efforts NOW!!!!

Mets still haven't announced the Antonio Addition. Once they do, there's going to be another roster pinch, this one perhaps threatening Dario Alvarez most directly. Possibly Jeff Walters. And just maybe, Eric Campbell.

Lennon is tweeting that Manfred sees the change gaining momentum. With an upcoming CBA, this could be the last year of the hitting pitcher.

There's a lot o' reasons to re-sign the big man. I hope PR isn't really one of them.

He had a good year or two as a semi-regular with Milwaukee and Cincinnati. I remember there was a protest day when all of MLB's Cuban and Cuban-American players were going to sit out, and he was twisting his hands over whether to participate, because he was finally getting his game together.

I like Conforto as a precedent all to himself. Has any Mets prospect ever matched him for athletic lineage on both sides of his family?

Well, the Mets sure are trying to shave away ambiguity in their depth chart, knocking jobs away from unestablished fringy players by putting established vets with more assuring track records in their way. Bastardo's a pretty cool-looking pitcher. When a pitcher in his motion, as he moves forward, typically, everything above the waist seizes and contorts. The neck tendons stretch, the forehead scrunches, the mouth assumes a screaming rictus (if you're R.A. Dickey), but Bastardo just looks like he's at the beach reading a David Baldacci paperback. They all seem like warmup pitches to him. [fimg=400]http://themajors.net/detroit/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/fantasy_a_bastardo_576.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=400]http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1281969/images/o-ANTONIO-BASTARDO-facebook.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=400]http://metsmerizedonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/8540252.jpg?6c20df[/fimg] That's a cool cat!

I'm waiting on a second source before I paint him onto the roster, but I like this particularly because it may well have the added bonus of keeping Gilmartin from getting permanently tracked into the bullpen. With two veteran lefties in Bastardo and Blevins, and Alvarez, Edgin, and Smoker to push them from behind, Gilmartin can become starting pitching depth, which the team can use a little of.

Well, I imagine, should the organization re-sign the big guy, the team would come out of the gate with the same sort of platooning that they finished with last year. So Cespedes wouldn't bump any one guy to the bench, but rather would bump 1/3 of Conforto and 2/3 of Lagares. At least, until injuries and/or performance pushed them to adjust.

Some guy with 18 followers (at the time) tweeted that he had a source reporting Cespedes to the White Sox for four years, and Twitter 'sploded for about an hour. Lots o' trolling going on.

Edgy was surprised to read that Alex Ochoa had somehow escaped the Continuum Bustopherum Rightfieldium.

Traded for fellow top-draft-pick-rounder-turned-minor-league-vet Allan Dykstra. Dykstra at least gave the Mets three years of productive Lucas Duda insurance on the farm, and got a bitter cup of coffee with Tampa this year. Kunz hasn't pitched since 2012.

Well, Bernard and José Martinez, who I forgot to list above, have both been released, making the Mets something like 40% less druggy.

Mets add an indy league baseball vagabond, and cut loose two of ceetar's favorite drug abusers. Dwight Bernard would be ashamed. Or organize and lobby for a fair and equitable wage. The idea that minor leaguers are underpaid, so they need to spend what little they have on illegal and dangerous pharmaceuticals, is risible. It's just another level of exploitation.

Elster88 wrote: Edgy MD wrote: With the Han analog from this film, Poe Dameron, all you know about him is that he's a hotshot pilot. And that we have to learn through a quick force-feeding, when he's called the resistance's "best pilot" in the crawl, and him boasting "I can fly anything" as he kicks into action. Bam, I’m supposed to care about this guy? He's the fifth most important character in the story, so no, you're not supposed to overly care about him. The story was busy developing the other characters. And it developed them well. And calling him a Han analog is a silly, gross oversimplification. He (spoiler)=#FFBFFF]fired the shot that destroyed the enemy's super-weapon, saving the free peoples of the universe(/spoiler). He presumably was supposed to matter. This script was distressingly unimaginative. We were up to 22 plot elements cribbed from earlier films before we just got bored with counting. The rough part is that this isn't a failure. This is a success, from Disney's point of view. This is the way they make films.

Eudor Garcia, Class-A third baseman, that's who. Bumetanide. Furosemide. 80 games-aside. Eudor joins repeat offender Jenrry Mejia, Appy League reliever Conor Buchman, fellow Kingsport right-hander Ricard Jacquez, Gulf Coast League hurler Derrick Bernard on the drug offender/suspended list. Plus Hansel Robles who has something like a three-game suspension handing over his head.

That's some strange and empty speculation about what I would and wouldn't do. But no, that's not true. Grantland's using the same basic math that I am on the same data. Add things up and get a total. Divide the total by the elements, and get an average. I'm just measuring more recent years. So, what else have you got? Because mocking me for using the most basic concepts of math isn't really shaming me as well as you might think.

No. But you're throwing the kitchen sink at this now. One post, you're sarcastically laying me out with "That's not me talking. That's not my idea. That's science. Math and shit." Now you're dismissing me for using "fancy math talk." Which is it? You've rejected the mean for 2015 and 2014's projected starting salaries, and you've rejected the median for the same. What data would you accept? Art Shamsky? If that isn't the reddest herring in history, I don't know what. But, of course, this is obvious obfuscation. We're not talking about Art Shamsky, or Earl Weaver. We're talking about whether American League teams spend more than National League teams on player salaries. Current data, at least data that I've been able to collect, suggest they do not. I'm loathe to make broad conclusions, but that's just what the number say. So what else have you got?
