Mets hitting a lot of hard-hit at-'em balls tonight.

And it works. (I'm all alone.)

Strikes out Conforto and the go to Bud Norris to face Cespedes? I don't know about that move. Oh, right Fredi Gonzlez. I guess he's trying to get his pitcher out on a positive?

Welcome back to the bigs Brignac.

Man, Curtis misses another homer by 12 inches.

Nu sideline reporter tonight.

Keith giving himself a Strat-o-Matic defense rating. "Ozzie and I were 1's. No question." Awesome. Keith's time off has really energized him. He's nuts tonight.

Big news out of Bingtown is that an injury to Jeff McNeil has opened the way for Phil Evans to join the club. Good news too as, despite the fact that he hadn't been hitting in St. Lucie, he was getting totally lost in the shadow of a torrid start from Amed Rosario. B-Mets had a great week, with their loss yesterday ending a six-game winning streak. Robert Gsellman seemingly has little left to prove at this level, following up his stellar 2015 with a 1.82 ERA so far in five starts. And he's striking out a few more batters, too. Where is the 2016 Yankees are Assholes Thread?
Edgy MD replied to nymr83's topic in New York Mets Talk
That .423 OPS from Chase Headley makes my eyes hurt. And Didi Gregorius. Though remembering that it was some kind of tragedy when the Yankees got him instead of the Mets gives me great joy. -
They got the hammer lineup. Hopefully Colon's homer vulnerability will be offset by Atlanta's general power shortage. I tend to think Colon's starts a good day to play Laggy.

Peralta is due back at the start of June. That's one thing. They also have a couple of good starting pitcher prospects cooking in Memphis, though who knows with that? Syndergaard spent a over a full season in AAA. But the Cards are hard to count out.

With the Mets' loss yesterday, the new hottest team in the National League is, shockingly, the Philadelphia Phillies. Man, with an eight-game win streak, in the rain, on a getaway day, with the series already in the bag, against Madison Bumgarner, and three games into a 17-in-17 stretch, if there was ever a time to run the reserves out there, yesterday was the day. Terry's no fool. But with Washington completing a sweep yesterday, the Mets find themselves in a heat sandwich, with a hot team on top of them and a hot team below. Meanwhile, the Giants' win puts them into a three-way tie at .500 atop the National League West. I'm putting Colorado in the division lead based on their superior interdivisional record, but it's heartening to see that the billion-dollar Dodgers can't find the gas pedal. Columns are tightened up below, but still messy, due to our table-making limits. Burned out NYPD detective with a drinking problem (Bruce of the Willis Clan), gets a lousy detail transporting a loudmouth witness (Mos Def) from lockup to the courthouse. It seems like hump duty, but then folks come out hunting for his witness. New York shoot-em-up!

Gosh, you Superior Sammys might want to get some tee shirts made. I found it surprisingly OK. Tolerable. Is that a rating? It's like, a clearly inferior remake of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. I mean, very similar plot and themes and stuff, only, you know, with a LOT more gay subtext. It's not particularly canonical with PWBA (or it's little-loved sequel Big-Top Pee-Wee), but it again features the hero living the dream of an adult child, prancing about a dream house operating by Goldberg machines, fending off the advances of his would-be sweetheart, surrounded by a town that's perfectly trapped in his mid-century ascetic. Forces conspire to send him out on the road, and the characters he encounters seem to pop right out of mid-century genre pulp novels. Just like with the new Star Wars, right now you're thinking, "Well I've already seen that. Can't anybody think of anything new?" I'm right there with you. B'LIEVE me. But what redeems it, to the extent that it is redeemed or redeemable, is low expectations (see above); a handful of new gags from a creative act that's had a few decades to come up with a nu idea or two; and... I guess the joy of just seeing this old, disgraced guy having the gall to go out there and give it a whirl. John Lee ain't Tim Burton. Paul Rust ain't Phil Hartman. And Mark Mothersbaugh ain't Danny Elfman, as much as I'd totally prefer to see Devo over Oingo-Boingo. It's an off-brand, knockoff candy bar, but maybe you need a sugar rush one of these nights. And at least the nut at the center is authentic.

Paul Rubens, approaching retirement age, somehow brings back his career-defining manchild character back for another feature 30 years after his big-screen debut. Produced by and exclusively found at Netflix.

More about what feeds into the formula here.

It's interesting that folks were concerned he wouldn't get his chances against lefties, and here he is getting run out there against the best of them.
