Those are some handsome cards: Hawkins, Matsui... even Buchholz despite that weird outline. Full-color glossy backs should have been an advancement, but the body-and-soul treatment on Johnson up there is just a textbook example of how they weren't. I wonder, when a team considers all the baggage a guy like that comes with, how much the "Former #1 Overall" label still helps him. Interesting that it's the Rangers he lands with.

I'm trying to think what Reyes' ultimate destination will be. With 3-5 lousy infielders, New York pedigree, and a demonstrated tolerance for domestic abusers on the mend, the Yankees are always a potential landing spot, but I can't see them dealing for him even paying nickels on the dollar. Perhaps Colorado just releases him and the Yankees sign him on the cheap.

I don't go for this 13-man pitching staff nonsense. For one, the pen isn't particularly gassed. For two, the short bench already caught up with the team by inning six of the first game, when Alejandro de Aza had to go up there and pinch-hit against Clayton Kershaw, a tough draw for anybody, but simply unfair for a left-handed bench player. Eleven strikeouts. Need a bloop, a HbP, and a blast.

Sorry, man. The amazing thing is that googling "Pete Rose" and "tattoo" gave me a whole strange world of people who actually wear tattoos OF Pete Rose. And... um... I'm pretty sure Fman was one of them.

Going down on a meatball, Lucas. A hanger and a half.

Gonzalez looked like he never played outfield before on that play.

Ronnie: "I played against Barry Bonds his first year, and I tell ya, he was one of the best players in the league as soon as he arrived." Not quite, Ron.

And now, a little something for the ladies.

I just can't stand the fact that the team gets to do their own video review before calling for a video review. Screw that. If you believe the call was wrong, say so on the field.

I don't want to have faith in the Story Story either, but, well, Mike Trout has been the best player in the world over the last half decade while striking out prodigiously. It shouldn't be sustainable, but sometimes is.

Ben Grimm and KC deserve all the credit. I helped by wishing.

Mets needed Daniel Murphy this game.

I applied. They asked me my state, and I started typing M... A... R... and nothing appeared in the drop-down menu. So I clicked the arrow to look at the selection, and all they had was Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. I want to win, so I cheated, and put down my mother's address. They haven't gotten in touch.

A lot of guys swinging at balls at the shins. Lefties, righties, everybody.

We can't do better than send De Aza against Kershaw as a pinch-hitter? I'd've taken my chances with Coln.

I mean, I can't imagine he has any photos of the Wilpons that are more embarrassing than the ones we've got, and none of us are floating on the back end of the roster.

I'm guessing he doesn't have incriminating pictures of the Wilpons.

You can say that about his whole professional and public life. Including the car crash.

This is how I scored my first date with Julia Stiles.

It'll look better when the scars heal. Which isn't to say it isn't 100% foolish.
