  1. Murphy down to .397.
  2. Bryce Harper. 100 MPH. Inside corner. Strike three. WOW!
  3. Well, that was kind of awesome, Mr. Conforto.
  4. All youse making jokes about Murphy's dee, step forward.
  5. Got to put that in play, Walker.
  6. It's so lifelike! Will Reynolds be the first Met non-pitcher to debut in the nine hole? Or did Muno or somebody beat him to that honor?
  7. I'm blacked out!!
  8. This is my first IGT of the regular season. I want a full contingent! If they hadn't made the move for Reynolds, tonight might have been Plawecki's debut at third.
  9. Wright and Duda both reported to be suffering from balky backs. Sounds like Long Flight Disease.
  10. [fimg=500]http://static5.comicvine.com/uploads/original/8/80111/4880230-benjamin+grimm+4.png[/fimg] Your call is very important to us. Customer service personnel will be with you shortly. Please listen closely as our menu items have changed.
  11. Reynolds to debut at third. Hmmm...
  12. I had fully expected the Braves to suspend their campaign and throw their weight behind one of the frontrunners any day now. What a betrayal this all has been.
  13. That may lead to Duda's reinstatement, with Campy going back across the diamond ... or Reynolds' debut (!) at second with Walker bumped over to third. Part of me thinks this was to be a bone for Campbell. "We have every intent of making Reynolds a part of this team, so if you're going to hit, here's your chance to hit now. If you're not hitting by the time Wilmer comes back, we're going to have a lot easier decision to make."
  14. Ceetar wrote: he won't, he can't, even if he goes 4/4 that doesn't justify the decision to sit your good hitter for your crappy bench guy. We'll see. I'm guessing there are issues that effect the day-to-day vicissitudes of playing and the states of mind of players, that Terry is trying to be thoughtful about. Duda was doing next to nothing for two months last year until finding new focus after the arrival of Johnson and Uribe. I'm guessing Terry is trying to mix and motivate. I think it's plain that Duda is the better player. But history shows that the better player isn't always the better choice, for any number of reasons, but clear and strange. Perhaps he's trying to protect a vulnerable psyche from a tough draw. But I'll take that 4-4. Where do I sign up for that?

  16. Duane F. Below went seven scoreless innings tonight as your LV51s took a 12-0 shutout into the ninth before Dario Avarez coughed up four runs. Big whoop. A blowout it still was. Below gave up only three hits, walking one and striking out five, Dilson Herrera hit his eighth homer, T.J. Rivera collected three hits, upping his average to .339, and three more were registered by Ty Kelly, elevating his mark to a Williamsanian .404. Kelly leads all of affiliated baseball in batting average, because awesome.
  17. They can claim copyright protection while blatantly ripping off DC and Led Zeppelin?
  18. The Test. La Prueba. Tesuto. Die Toets. Call it what you will, but the Mets have a big chance to tell the leading division rival that they mean business. Noah Syndergaard takes the hill against some guy named Scherzer.
  19. .238 / .303 / .369 // .672 Hasn't hit consistently, but when he has, he's gotten the walks and the extra bases. Which kind of makes him fit right in on this team.

  21. Well, yes, your position is clear. But it wasn't and isn't an accurate reflection of the argument being made.
  22. Yes, shifting works. That's why I advocate for a plan to combat it. Filtering this through a bottom-of-the-ninth scenario kind of queers the argument beyond recognition.
  23. John Buck gave 'em 1.5 WAR at about $5 million, I think, pro-rating for his time with Pittsburgh.
  24. 4.7 fWAR so far for Syndergaard plus 3.4 for d'Arnaud. That's 8.1 total at perhaps $1.4 million total salary. 6.1 for Dickey. About $32.4 million.
  25. It's not just the jerseys and grass they get high and mighty about. But (especially when Big Geo was calling the shots) they have a long and storied track record of enforced patriotism. So the paradox is more explicit.
