  2. If the Mets' bullpen was a movie, it would be directed by Godard, because it's some kind of tour de force. 3. Man, how much does Harvey have on the line here?
  4. A lefthanded wolf.
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: And as big a proponent as I've been about getting rid of the dead time in the game, I've never seen the 'automatic' IW as the place to do it, or that the IW is even dead time to begin with. I think this is where the issue is with me. I think MLB has taken aggressive measures to shorten games without having a serious philosophical discussion about what constitutes dead time. I tend to think of mound conferences as part of the drama of baseball, and adequately policed by umps. Now, the pitching coach has 30 seconds to confer, and the clock starts as he's exiting the dugout, and so half his time is gone by the time he arrives, and he's got to talk to a guy who doesn't necessarily speak the same language particularly well, and what can really happen during such an exchange. And all the time the clock is being displayed on the scoreboard, creating the wrong sort of artificial drama, I think, for the fan.
  6. Oddly enough, the first guy I recognized was Bones.
  7. No Conforto, no Duda.
  8. Yeah, sorry. I've fixed two errors. I was hoping our new home would make chart making and customizing easier. It has not.
  9. Man, and people complain that Citi Field doesn't have nice bullpen accommodations.
  10. As the Giants climb the beanstalk and the Reds fade to gray (slipping assuredly into Brave territory), the Mets find that they are no longer Baseball Prospectus' favorite to win the division, even as they continue sport a happy 89% likelihood of post-season play. 11. Yeah, the outing doesn't have the weight, largely because secret identities aren't really a big deal in the MCU. Spidey really has a low-cool-quotient, comic-colored set of pajamas — even after he works with Tony Stark on an upgrade — doesn't he?
  12. So, what did Bernie Sanders think of the sweep?
  13. Sheesh, the "Stay classy, San Diego" response is simply too obvious. But why were they lip synching in the first place?
  14. The most obvious solution usually being the one folks try first, so if Duda ends up on the DL, I'm guessing that the first plan is to play Wilmer Flores at first. Flores is expected to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday, but that will likely only be a day or two. Dilson or Nimmo possibly get a callup for a few days until then. They also need to make a decision real soon on Josh Edgin.
  15. Took you folks long enough to figure out. I'll fix it once the winning streak ends. I hate to change things up when we're hot.

  18. These numbers came from before this weekend, so the Mets should have moved up based on one good and one very good start. But before Saturday's games, they had dropped from 9th to 11th in ranking. Synderrocket, on the other hand, had moved up to 35th, and may be in the top 30 after today's start. I guess that would make it official. "Ace" status achieved. Cincinnati, the rankings suggest, would be better served outfitting their rotation with three retired guys and two replacement players. 19. Four-runs score in all against gassed Padres reliever Luis Perdomo, but the Pads open the bottom of the 17th with a hit off of Stripling. The Dodgers may not have enough pitching to close this out.
  20. Two-run single through the drawn-in infield.
  21. In the top of the 17th, the Dodgers get two on. Stripling bunts them over, and the camouflage-clad Pads walk Jock Pederson. Conference on the mound. Infield in against Puig.
  22. In the all-Steve Garvey matchup, the Dodgers and Pads are tied at five in the fifteenth inning. Both starting pitchers were pulled after five, so the Pads have used seven pitchers in total so far, while Dodgers are on their ninth, sending rookie starting pitcher Ross Stripling out there.
  23. I think that guy's out. The ball was caught, the force was made, and the baserunner slapped the ball away afterwards.
