  1. "Make a Custer decision down there in Chelsea!" Really, Keith?
  2. I saw Kelly do something smelly on the telly.
  3. Young Elvira sitting in Row 1 behind the plate.
  4. Harvey opens with a chitty chitty bang bang.
  5. Too many missing bats. Not sure why (a) Granderson isn't being dropped toward the middle of the lineup, and ( Conforto is sitting against a righty.
  6. Unless it's Kelly-for-Campy or Kelly-for-Reyny. Or unless Neil Walker gets DL'd. I wonder if it's something like what Uribe absorbed last year, when a blow to the sternum impinges breathing. But probably Kelly-4-Kelly, yeah.
  7. I'll lay you 2-to-1 that Machado appeals the four games and gets two. It seems pretty clear that, as much the kid ump over-policed the Mets game when he tossed Syndergaard, the home plate ump that night didn't sit on Ventura at all, and left Machado to his own devices. But hey! Crabcakes!
  8. Mets on Peter Alonso: "He may be a one-tool player, but it's really a tremendous tool." This is why God created the word OMG!
  9. Making enough contact to get those 13 hits was nice, but it was against a pitcher who was utterly under water. Leaving him out there that long, and erasing their own base runners... the Brewers gave the Mets that game in a silver beer stein.
  10. Mets second-rounder and he Number 64 overall pick is first baseman Pete Alonso of your Florida Gators. I support the idea that, when you've got a cool last name like "Alonso," a sober, pedestrian name like "Pete" goes with it nicely as a prefix. "Yonder" is just overkill. Good eye, good glove, but no single overwhelming skill. Just a baby James Loney.
  11. With the #37 overall pick, the A's select Jeffries Daulton, whose parents must've been big 1995 Phillies fans.
  12. WARD MELVILLE REPRESENTING!!
  13. First time in the Alderson era the team has gone for a pitcher in round one. They went for Michael Fulmer with a late sandwich pick (44th overall) in 2011, after taking Nimmo #13.
  14. Greatest baseball figure out of Freepo't since Dick Schaap. Honorable mention to Flava Flav, who knew how to rock a baseball cap.
  15. And they quickly go for... Justin Dunn, right-hander from BC: [fimg=500]https://c.o0bg.com/rf/image_1920x1280/Boston/2011-2020/2016/06/06/BostonGlobe.com/Sports/Images/b2d61df474064f8c91c85b29967169bc-b2d61df474064f8c91c85b29967169bc-0-9912.jpg?uuid=7VmmsCwgEeakJCa42qqu_g[/fimg] At the start of the spring, Dunn was an interesting college reliever with arm strength, albeit one with a four-pitch mix many scouts were intrigued to see as a starter. They got their wish as Dunn became a part of Boston College's weekend rotation in April and saw his Draft stock take off. Dunn has always had a plus fastball and he maintained it in his early starts, lighting radar guns up to 98-99 mph and sitting in the 92-95 mph range. He utilizes two breaking balls, both of which are Major League average: a three-quarters curve and a solid hard slider. His changeup will also flash average, though he didn't need it much as a reliever. His command is fringy at present, but his outstanding stuff helps make up for it. Many teams feel Dunn has a very good chance to start as a Yordano Ventura type athletic, yet slightly undersized, right-hander. As a result, he was flying up boards, with some feeling he could be gone by the end of the first round. I'm not too cool with picking a guy that high if he's projected for the bullpen.
  16. Mets on the clock OMYGAWD!!
  17. Angels go for Matt Thaiss, who looks like he retired in 1952.
  18. Come on, Angels. Shake a tail feather.
  19. 1) Phillies: Moniak, Mickey: La Costa Canyon HS (CA), OF (was arguably the best HS hitter, but somewhat surprising) 2) Reds: Senzel, Nick: U Tennessee, 3B 3) Braves: Anderson: Ian, Shenendehowa HS (Clifton Park, NY), RHP 4) Rockies: Pint, Riley: Saint Thomas Aquinas HS (KS), RHP 5) Brewers: Ray, Corey, Louisville U, OF 6) Athletiques: Puk, A.J.: U Florida, LHP 7) Marlins: Garrett, Braxton: Florence HS (AL), LHP 8) Padres: Quantrill, Cal (son of Paul): Cal Stanford, RHP 9) Tigers: Manning, Matt (son of Rich): Sheldon HS (CA), RHP
  20. Phillies on the clock:
  21. Brewers lose, and I guess the Mets win.
  22. Great to see Laggy back in action. Great to see a pinch-hit RBI from Reynolds. Not so great to think that 3/4 of the Mets infield may be grounded.
  23. Surprised they didn't go to Big Jim Henderson or Hansel there.
  24. Well this isn't the laugher I envisioned. Hill runs like Ron Cey. Still scored easily from first.
  25. Maybe some late-inning Laggy defense tonight?
