I appreciate trying to get him a win, but Terry might have tried to get too much milk out of this cow. -

Well, thar be some weaknesses he potentially offsets on offense. He's a contact hitter where the Mets have a surfeit (an embarrassing surfeit) of swing-and-miss guys. He may be a shadow of the base-stealer and baserunner he was, but he'd instantly become the most effective and threatening guy on the bases if he was to put on a Mets uniform. He can bunt, and hit and run, and use the whole field, which are also tools the Mets lack. He also brings whatever he brings to the morale, which is something I'm not quite sure of, but Terry seems optimistic about it, so I thought I'd mention that even though my faith is wavering. His position would be I-dunno. His on-base percentage would be a concern day-in and day-out. His potential to be a PR embarrassment and a slap in the face to women and all who love them is certainly a real concern. I guess one best-case scenario would be Shawon Dunston '99, but he'd have to be down with being a multi-position player. And while child-like joy is contagious, so is child-like sulking and self-pity and self-centeredness. I'm punting to you, Sandy!

Yup. It's a risk-intensive world. On one hand, he's making half of what Harper and Trout will soon be making. On the other hand, it's a leap of faith whether he will be half the player that they are going forward. But I thought it was a name to throw out. I'm not privy to Kongdreams.
-
That's some hurtin' copy, my friends. I hope they're scouting pitchers better than writers.

Then there's the story of the lady who ordered the VCR tape (remember those kids?) of that movie for her and her grandson to watch but wound up with 'THE ARISTOCRATS' instead. [fimg=200]http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f26/SweetHenrietta/Blogger/The_Aristocrats_92250c.jpg[/fimg] I rented a box that said Henry V and came home with Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. I shrugged and walked off to entertain myself otherwise, but before I returned it, I came back to the living room and ... "Hey Dad, how's it goi... oh, dear, Jesus, what are you watching?!" "I'm just perusing my sick-minded weirdo son's movie selections."

I gots nothing particularly bad to say on Curtis. He's turned it around in the past and I trust he's doing that now. I wish he'd strike out less, but I wish everybody would. Best places for improvement look like catcher, followed by first, followed by left.

First Canadian player to home three times for a Canadian team. How do you like them apples, Larry Walker? -
Bingo is still trying to find some traction, but have no real standout performers. This is in part a result of dealing from the middle of the system (of the deck, if you will) last summer, but also the reality of having two #1 draft choices who aren't running with the ball. Phil Evans is getting his hits, but refusing to walk almost philosophically. Dominic Smith is well rounded, but underwhelming. Logan Taylor is coming on strong as a reliever, but he's not stopping the presses or anything. All that adds up to an un-characteristic and un-Metly fifth place in the Eastern League Eastern Division, 19.5 games behind the Reading Phightin' Phils. And 10 seconds after I finish this update, Travis d'Arnaud gets sent to Vegas on his rehab tour.
-
Let's just deal with 2016. Either June is distinctly indicative of his performance going forward this year or it's not.
-
I shouldn't have taken a few weeks off from updating Vegas. We missed the big Stolmy Pimentel release! Stolmy, you may recall got tossed from a spring training game after deliberately throwing at the next guy immediately after a Randall Grichuk homer. He had an ERA over 10, going from the starting rotation to the bullpen to the woodpile. Better luck in the future, Stolmy. Aside from the much-reported ascent of Brandon Nimmo, Las Veas is also the home of an unblemished Josh Edigin ERA and some MVP-ish numbers from outfielder Travis Taijeron and infielder T.J. Rivera, thought the latter is currently DL'd. The 51s currently sit five games off the pace in the PCL Southern Division, and have way too many relievers with stratospheric ERAs. At least one or two of those guys have a DFA in their futures, when the Mets have a need to give those roster spots to Cuban infielders or wayward knuckleballers. The game (at this level) is moving too fast for him right now. Now make it so I'm full of shit this inning Plawman. There's something to this. You watch enough, and you get to know where all of your batters like it. Not so much Plawecki. He gets ahead 3-1, and I don't know what he's looking for or where he's looking for it.

Yup. Flores comes up against Exene.

This is the spot of the game, right here. If they counter with a lefty (Dario?!) against De Aza, I would switch to Wilmer.
