Cool. Two-run flare where Baez tried to pull a Wright. Only one Wright, Baez.

Hey, Fox, stop talking about the Yankees. Thanks.

Latest word is that Lagares is expected to be activated for tonight's game, but a corresponding move hasn't been announced. Expecting Lugo to bounce back down.

Certainly a swan song for that two-run homer that Walker hit. But no, I'm guessing that, barren any DL trips by Grandy or another, that De Aza lasts at least until Reyes arrives.

We've commented in the past on weird writing when reviewing some stories from the minors. Well, it turns out, it's often because robots have been dispatched to do the coverage. And now, the Associated Press is announcing that they will using automated writing to cover more than 10,000 minor league games annually. The Associated Press has been using automated writing in some form since July 2014, when it began using technology from Automated Insights to produce earnings report stories. The AP now uses automation to produce more than 3,500 earnings reports stories about U.S. companies every quarter. In 2015, The Associated Press announced that it would begin using automation to produce NCAA game stories and hired its first Automation Editor, Justin Myers. What times we live in.

I gots no problem with activating him to be a reserve. If Grandy can't go, we gots three outfielders and Kelly Johnson pretending. Fourth outfielder > 13th pitcher. Besides Terry has shown he's no Jerry when it comes to players on the rocks. He's going to find a role for you right up until the day you're released.

So did the guy in the roster thread earlier in the day. First Seth, first Lugo, and first 67. It was a triple debut.

Juan Lagares is supposed to be in town for tonight's game but it's uncertain as to whether he will be activated, which makes sense ... on Mars. I mean, you always need a million pitchers, right? We don't know much about our new young Venezuelan friend Gilberto Espinoza, except that spreading 220 pounds on a 6'1" frame sounds pretty stocky for a 17-year-old. As he likely heads to the Dominican Summer League, I thought it worthy to see if he was now the youngest in the system, but nope, two big signings from the winter were born in January 1999 — Dominican outfielder Edinson Valdez and Dominican shortstop Gregory Guerrero — when many of us were just logging on to the Mets Online Forum. But the real babycakes of the system are Dutch infielder Shervyen Newton (born April 24, 1999), and Venezuelan outfielder Raul Beracierta (born May 24, 1999!). The first millennium Met is right around the corner! And if you want to buy low on a long-term investment, adopt Beracierta. He's hitting .393 through his first 20 games in the DSL. The April Mets returned the field again last night, as the team lit up Chicago pitching to the tune of five home runs, and now a team that had been floundering for five weeks is in a position to take a series from what had seemed to be the best team in the league. Two Cy Young winners match up in this game, the visitors coming with 2015 NL winner Jake Arrieta, and the home team defending with 2004 AL winner Bartolo Coln. In a surprising move, both pitchers have both agreed to take the mound naked, demonstrating their singular prowess and commitment to classical ideal of athletic competition as an offering to the gods. Welcome to the bigs, Amanda Vogle, prospective Mrs. Lugo, and a long way from Curoscant.

Sweet breaking ball. [fimg=500:1m3pdko0]https://cdn0.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/E8V7-rD3yoOhR0XAuEmFWmzZsEo=/0x0:2343x1562/1310x873/cdn0.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/49997029/usa-today-9189845.0.jpg[/fimg:1m3pdko0]

By all accounts, Nimmo has displayed batting practice homer prowess all through the minors. While his power output has gone up only modestly as he climbed the ladder, there remained some hope that it was still a nascent skill within him.

Not to advocate for De Aza, but Cspedes should be out of there.

Darling: "His (Cahill's) stuff looks firm. His breaking pitch looks good." *//Cahill uncorks 50-foot bouncing pitch.

Let's get a Loneycycle!

It's funny. The booth starts making Tommy jokes just as I'm thinking that Blevins would look like young Pete Townsend if he grew his hair out.

IDEAL it is!

Blevins against Bryant seems like less than an ideal matchup.

Round Three with Jerry Blevins in the ring.

Dumb question, but... who let the Mets out?

Now let's see if he high-fives everybody as he runs out to his position.

That's been some time coming.

Whelp... welcome to the ballgame, Cubs.
