  1. I've been trying to get that one for hours. I'm up late tonight with a sick and restless doggie. LA has lost, putting the Mets in position for the top wild card slot. Conforto went 3-4 with a walk and his second homer since his demotion, a three-run jobbie. He's hitting .333 as a 51.
  2. Say goodbye to 1983. Kingman, Foster, rookie Strawberry, and Bambi's Bandits could never compete against this bunch. Even three homers from Walt Terrell couldn't hold off the 2016 Mets through July 7. 2016 Projected Through End of Season: 219.18 1) 2006: 200 2) 2000: 198 3) 1987: 192 4) 2004: 185 5) 1999: 181 T6) 2015: 177 T6) 2007: 177 8) 2005: 175 T9) 2008: 172 T9) 1990: 172 11) 2002: 160 12) 1993: 158 13) 1997: 153 14) 1988: 152 15) 1986: 148 T16) 2001: 147 T16) 1996: 147 T16) 1989: 147 T19) 2012: 139 T19) 1962: 139 21) 1998: 136 22) 1985: 134 23) 2013: 130 24) 2010: 128 T25) 2014: 125 T25) 1995: 125 27) 2003: 124 28) 1970: 120 T29) 1994: 117 T29) 1991: 117 31) 2016: 115 32) 1983: 112 33) 1969: 109 34) 2011: 108 T35) 1984: 107 T35) 1965: 107 37) 1972: 105 38) 1964: 103 39) 1976: 102 40) 1975: 101 T41) 1971: 98 T41) 1966: 98 43) 1982: 97 T44) 1974: 96 T44) 1963: 96 46) 2009: 95 47) 1992: 93 48) 1977: 88 49) 1978: 86 50) 1973: 85 51) 1967: 83 52) 1968: 81 53) 1979: 74 54) 1980: 61 55) 1981: 57
  3. Yeah, what a cliché. Get him a pinball machine or a barbecue or something.
  4. I glean that, in Rustich's case, the diagnosis didn't come until late. His condition was his normal. Whether that's on the Mets, I guess, can be speculated. I wonder if he and Tony Bernazard had a chat.
  5. Daddy always says, if Brant Rustich says so, it's the truth. [fimg=600:1szb5let]https://metsinpeace.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/cmyuhvjxgaat3wq.jpg[/fimg:1szb5let] I don't think he knows what "albeit" means, but if he does, he's totally dissed the Mets right there.
  6. Tying Run = Murphy/Harper/Ramos. Bleh.
  7. On our third first baseman. I hope Terry hasn't lost faith forever in Wilmer at first.
  8. Best Addison in team history.

Reed has been icing on the bench for a while now. I would've used Reed in the 7th and Lugo in the 8th, but whatever. That may yet happen.

  11. Well, that's not how you draw it up.
  12. Bunt, Jos. Show 'em the old stuff.
  13. Sisk bashing is so out.
  14. Cabrera egg is disgusting. I feel for you. Say what you will about the Murph, but his hustle on that overturned double play set up turning this game for a time in the Nats' favor. And now, bam! He hits like a killer.
  15. That's certainly a little comforting. I wasn't looking forward to them trying to nurse a single-run lead over nine outs.
  16. Oh, I think the team still has enviable depth. Brilliant move bringing Colón back though. If anything, it's almost a relief to have a pedestrian in the rotation. If Verrett doesn't perform two times in a row, they move on until they find someone who does. If Harvey doesn't perform two times in a row, they wring their hands, and weigh short-term needs against getting Harvey back to Harveyness, sending him out there and out there and out there.
  17. Dear Wilmer: Take it easy. Big purple ink ain't cheap. - The Admins
  18. Holy Wilmer Holy! Give that man a curtain call.
  19. Hey, an inning-ending double play! Hey, a potential challenge! The rule would work so much better if you forced teams to make challenges based on the evidence of their own eyes, rather than getting to review the tape themselves.
  20. Got a link?
  21. Two steals on one pitch? That's usually two weeks' output for the Mets. And look, Cespy is sliding and everything.
  22. Baker comes with the hook. Ollie Perez time.
  23. Now 4-3 in a VERY solo-homery game as Jos Reyes refamiliarizes himself with the Citi Field bleachers.
