I think our backup shortstop is de Grommand he's out of the game.

That was pretty bush, Ramos. Pretty damn bush.

Lead off bunt, Jose!

Roster move piling upon roster move, leaving me giving yesterday's and today's news in this update, which includes T.J. Rivera's latest promotion and T.J.'s latest demotion. Looks like they're short-benching it as this series opens, and with Cabrera, Céspedes, and Walker hobbled, they may be really short-benching it. Like, they only have 12 hitters on the roster, three hobbled may or may not leave nine. So their bench may be little more than a backup catcher. I suppose they could have sent deGrom down, if only as a paper transaction. If he's not going to pitch for nine days, there's an argument that you might as well open up a roster spot. Playoff race baseball here, folks.

I kind of like how terry is burning his left handed relievers early, as Mattingly's bench is all right handed hitters.

So who breaks this game open? Flores, right?

Who pitches now?

I want to live like Montero is living tonight.

Fernandez is hilarious. He EXPECTS to hit a home run.

FFS, the kid was coming with home/road splits.

Not bad, Aronstein. Not so good, Mets.

Totally against quitting on d'Arnaud.

"Far be it for me to CHALLLENGE your call, gentlemen. I'd just like to respectfully suggest you gather, confer, and review your work. You know, as a matter of best practices." Typical Mattingly.

I'm having trouble with this decision. It's courageous. It can even be called strategic — I mean when was the last time you think Miami looked at a Rafael Montero scouting report? But how do you justify replacing an all-star quality pitcher with a guy from AA whose career has been tumbling down hill for two years? The word most folks would use is crazy. [fimg=350]http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.1703937.1393522944!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/gallery_1200/rafael-montero.jpg[/fimg]

Cspedes is a plus, certainly.

And if not, well, you might be tempted to immediately pull him after the first hit, or the second, rather than the third. Granderson was chasing a lot of balls out there in the seventh inning.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Those W-L figures in your standings ain't accurate today, are they? Well, if they aren't, then I'm wasting a lot of time. Somebody buy LWFS some ice cream.

Agreed.

Do more bunting. That was fun.

The thing is the Phils have played a pretty bad game, but the Mets, suddenly without their big bats ... again ... find themselves again behind the eight ball. But, hey, Phillies bullpen coming.

This is not an ideal inning.

Blah. I'd have gone to Familia here.

Standings update after only two days? Sounds like a lot of work, but the key number below is that the Mets their Wild Card likelihood by 7.8 points over that period, seemingly all of which has been taken off of Pittsburgh's plate. That's worth reporting. In addition to the change in BaseballProspectus likelihoods, also included now are the postseason likelhoods as they are calculated at MLB.COM.
