Is anybody in that shot behind the plate watching the game?

I'm with Ronnie. I don't think I've ever seen a ball clear that wall.

Was kind of hoping this Neil Walkie plate appearance would go to T.J. Rivera. Let's get him some swings.

Didn't Lucas have a play at second there?

Washington 6, St. Louis 2 in the fifth.

That was in the air for about 20 seconds.

Harvey with a shot at a granny.

Keep pouring it on, Mets. Let's fry that pen. Heck, let's see some more of Ramos.

Well, I guess I must eat crow. And if Mike Cameron was batting leadoff in those games, then I have to eat Cameron crow. I had spotted some of those games on my search, but incorrectly assumed those to be substitution appearances.

I salute that shakeup, though I might have thought about ninth for JoséJoséJosé. In 2010, he batted third for a while, but this is the first time in his career he hasn't batted in a featured position of first, second, or third.

Lance Lynn going for St. Louis against Gio and the Nationals. This IS a game for sole possession of first place.

He's a big meaty Thome-ish white guy who probably went through the minors too fast, but the power is there. Not a huge strikeout guy either. He got off to a slow start this year, and I'm hoping he craps out, but he's better than Ruf on his worst day. Looks like a statue on defense.

Or something like that. I was going for "he wasn't getting any hits" or something similarly juvenile. But then things got weird and stuff.

Why did José Reyes shut down his website?

AND ... we've just been shut down.

He apparently wasn't a bad player. A four-year player at University of the Pacific, he originally made the team as a walk-on. He was a lefthanded-hitting infielder as a Cardinals prospect, with a great on-base ability, but injuries mounted and he gave up the grind and went to law school, having played with a lot of future longtime big leaguers such as Tito Landrum and future Mets minor league manager Ken Oberkfell. Kinda looks the same, too. [fimg=350]https://mlblogskeitholbermann.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/boras.jpg[/fimg]

YOUR New York Mets, locked in a first place tie with those Washington Nationals, send Matt Harvey to the mound against the Phillies and veteran hard-throwing righty Clay Buchholz. Two H's, kids. SUBPLOTS! Will their be fallout from the apparent beanball Edubray Ramos apparently threw at Asdrubal Cabrera? Will Harvey put together two good, solid starts in a row as he almost never found himself able to do last season? Is that the back half of the Mets bullpen suddenly well rested? Is José Reyes swinging like he's 20 years old again? Will Terry Collins shake up his lineup? Has the excitement of a beanball woken them up? SUBPLOTS!

Still pissed about J.D. Drew, Phillie phans?

Phillies phans have passed over Placido Polanco and (far more surprisingly) Scott Rolen to elect Pete Rose to their Wall of Fame. I know Rose supposedly taught the Phillies to win or something, but Scott Rolen gave that team 20 times the productivity. The first six seasons of his career with the Phillies were everything the first six seasons of David Wright's career was with the Mets.

Columbia advanced to 5-0 tonight, with three of the wins by shutout. Colin Holderman gave up one hit tonight in six innings, striking out 11 and walking 0. Jacob Zanon led off for the 'Flies in the bottom half of the first by taking an HBP to the noggin and being removed for pinch-runner Gene Cone, who would come around to score what would ultimately prove to be the inning run. Edubray Ramos was not reportedly in the vicinity.

A small injustice that Kelly kinda gets his ticket to ride for not being what he wasn't really bred to be anyway — a fifth outfielder. Coming in as an extra infielder and a notch or so down on the pinch-hitting depth chart, he might've gotten a little more time to establish himself. But now he's lost after two plate appearances — not enough time to establish anything. And that's triggered by the Mets feeling an urgency for an eighth reliever — another circumstance beyond his control. I'm glad Blevvy's back, but it would have been funny if that one awful pitch by itself ended up giving him the victory.
