So, the Marlins won't run on René Rivera the rest of the season, right? I mean, Suzuki probably will, but other than him.

I just wrote how they did. They swept the Augusta Greenjackets. Overwhelmingly.

Glad to see Bruce and Conforto entering into a healthy competition. "Dietrich playing on the outfield grass, but barely. I mean ... he's fully dressed, but he's playing his position a little deep." — Howie Rose

Lefty Specialist wrote: Heavens to Mergatroid. "Cespedes with the lime-green sleeve". Do these people ever watch baseball? Say what you will about Buck and McCarver, but you knew it wasn't the first baseball game they've seen since their last assignment.

More importantly, Columbia columpleted a thundering sweep of Augusta at home. I don't know if Augusta stinks or what, but I'm certainly encouraged. Also, that homer was pulled by Tebow, and I hadn't seen him pull anything yet. I mean in the AFL, in spring training, and in his first regular season appearances.

Is Céspedes body-blocking the ball again?

Go get 'em, and cheer Conforto on the hardest.

Davey Johnson would be scandalized by Terry not banking on Grandy's past success against Volquez.

No lineups yet for what promises to be ... well, it promises to be whatever ESPN Sunday night games are, which is ... something ... like baseball. No lineups are post yet, but gametime temps are expected to be around 70 degrees. Make that 58 by the time the national anthem is done, and 35 fby the fifth inning. Cowls will be mandatory. Edinson Volquez goes for Miami, who apparently acquired Edinson Volquez this offseason. He threw five shutout innings on opening day against Washington. Mets matched up against him twice in the 2015 World Series, getting to him for three runs (including a Granderson homer) in five innings in Game One, and two runs (including a Granderson homer) in six innings in Game Five. They lost both games, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Curtis Granderson will be in tonight's lineup.

Name: Paul Sewald Met #: 1,027 Date: 4/8/2017

I'm surprised nobody's called Keith a chucker.

Who'd've thought that Jay Bruce would be the one guy most responsible for keeping this team from being hitless.

Smoker goes to his hat like five times per pitch.

You take Champ Stuart, I'll take Brandon Nimmo, and I'll get to Scotland before you. Nimmo and Lagares are plenty fast.

Yeah, focus on the O. Worrying about whether your last guy out of the bullpen can be more of a weapon is a trap. If he's good, great, but the offense should be carrying that guy; we shouldn't be looking to him to carry the offense.

Sure, I'll take Philadelphia, The City that Bombed Itself.

That's going to be the story with a lot of these teams: Infielders in the outfield. When you're using the outfield slots to carry extra pitchers, your reserve outfielder becomes the veteran secondbaseman who is being passed by younger players.

As Paul Sewald joins the Mets roster, the dream of the Mets making it through a new season without introducing any new players is under mortal threat. Also threatened is the nightmare of the Mets making it through a new season without introducing any new players. I say, "Hey, Mets, the problem isn't that you need more pitching." Please welcome to the organization Justin Brantley, a refugee from Cleveland with a lovely birthday, and Desmond Jennings, a speedy outfielder with 567 games of big league experience with the Rays over the last six seasons. And say goodbye to two players who have left the organization: Jonathan Johnson, an infielder who was typically the oldest guy on his minor league teams, was BFFs with Travis d'Arnaud, and left to become a college coach; and unrelated outfielder Kyle Johnson, who quit on principle, tired of seeing minor leaguers treated like shit. MIA is organizational outfielder Tucker Tharp, who isn't appearing on any minor league rosters or disabled lists. Hit up Roster Central if you know what has become of Tucker. Funny you posted that as I was just reading up on Toni Basil. Hey, T.J. Rivera, welcome to 2017.

John Holdzkom.

"I had a kid who kid throw 100 miles an hour, but he's out of baseball. He said he sweat too much and couldn't grip the ball." I think I can guess who that was.

Cool that something like half the highlights cited by Phil Regan were highlights he was on the wrong side of.

No reason the outfield should be deep enough for a Texas Leaguer to drop in off the bat of Gordon.
